We always enjoy this day. After 6 weeks of anonymous exchange, writer and artist will finally meet. They'll continue the path towards their exhibition work, from now on, in the flesh. 🎨✍️

As the creative tides ebb and flow for the final few days, artists and writers prepare to disembark together this Saturday. 🌊😊

Here we are COVert Arts ‘Pen to Canvas’ projects being recognised on this huge display board at FarGo Village Coventry The Box at FarGo Village by Warwick University University of Warwick & Coventry University Coventry University including many organisations and Coventry City Council Coventry for the ‘Connecting place, culture, research and impact – stories from Coventry’ event today.
Our work demonstrates civic participation, expression through creativity and forms connections through place with people. Thank you Warwick Institute of Engagement to all our writers, artists, the teams, university staff and our supporters who follow us and understand what our collective is all about. We believe access to art and supporting marginalised artists.

We approach the last week of correspondence before artists and writers meet in person. There is exactly one week before the last bits of work are put together and the envelopes are dropped in the mail for the final time. 🎨🌈

We're really proud to announce that Pen to Canvas is on for another edition! 🥳

For the next 5 weeks, 4 writers and visual artists will exchange post anonymously. Except they'll only communicate through their works. 📖🎨

|ARTIST CALLOUT|

COVert Arts is launching its 2nd edition of Pen to Canvas, an exchange programme that brings together Coventry-based visual artists and writers from Warwick University via anonymous correspondence.

Artists and writers "communicate" by posting their works to each other for 5-weeks to finally meet and develop a joint piece. These works then become part of a physical and digital exhibition.

We're looking to hear from Coventry-based visual artists (photography, painting, collage, etc.).

The project would require time-commitment only for specific dates and would be delivered between January - March 2023 (city centre and campus-based).

At this point, we're still waiting for approval on funding but are happy to hear expressions of interests and give further details.

Members of COVert Arts Sherrie Edgar & Victoria Sesi went to University of Warwick to attend the networking Warwick Institute of Engagement event meeting researchers & staff re developing ongoing strategic relationships to lead public engagement events

|ONE DAY EXHIBITION|

From 11am at Warwick's Faculty of Arts (Room FAB0.19) our four pairs will hang/project/exhibit their work to bring Pen to Canvas to a grand close! 🥳

This project is part of Warwick Institute of Engagement's Collaboration and Co-Production programme 😎 bringing COVert Arts and Warwick's Creative Writing Programme together.

Installation of exhibition FAB Faculty of Arts Building Room 0.19 supported by

5 local visuals artists Betty Molyneux, Chelle Hanson, Taiwo Ajose & Tala Lulu collaborate with 5 creative writers Flora Store, Mahira Mannan, Yvette Chan & Sueda Oktay from the department lead by Professor Gonzalo C. Garcia.
arts paired a visual artist with a creative writer, for one month they exchanged work anonymously via post. After sharing their experiences through meeting for the first time at an event 28th May Today we showcase their work produced during this time & new artworks opening Friday 1st July 11-4:30pm for day.

You are welcome to see a whole range of creations, a scope of immediate ideas, exploration & feelings, they were free to contemplate the gift of receiving and permission to process ideas with exchange. Today we have platform to learn skills, giving space for development, allowing the creative arts to flourish.

You are welcome to see this wonderful & exciting new project and talk to the artists & writers, and listen to their process, each individual pairs works are unique, ranging from projection, audio, origami, paintings, illustrations, photography, sculpture, and fabulous poetry.

Refreshments will be available from 1pm
