The foundations of good auto upholstery begins with knowing where to cut (anyone can cut). Each leather hide comes with its own challenges... thick, thin, soft, stretch, ridge.

It's typically the finer details that define the end product.

This is Naugahyde Leatherette, the best and most expensive leatherette you can get, in many cases better then Leather.
