We want to say a big thank you to Edgewater Eagles Football for serving alongside us at our National Ministry Centre in Coventry earlier this week! These athletes helped prepare items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes ahead of the big launch next month.

When asked about why he wanted to spend time volunteering for Samaritan’s Purse, Julian, an athlete with Edgewater Eagles said: “What stood out to me about Samaritans Purse’s is its big impact on people’s lives, it’s changing lives around the world!”

“It’s good to know that I’ll be helping kids that don’t have much,” Gabe, another athlete said. “Being an athlete is more than just sport, it’s about helping others and being an inspiration for others.”

Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts are transforming the hearts of children and healing broken communities in Paraguay.

The initiative, initiated by local churches and ministry partners like Samaritan's Purse, has distributed over 183,000 gift-filled shoeboxes to children across Paraguay in 2024, focusing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"I love packing school supplies that will really last and help them get an education.”
—Julie Fisher, Operation Christmas Child volunteer who has already packed and delivered 80 shoebox gifts towards this year’s campaign 🎁

“I was a single mum for a long time but my kids never went without a present,” Julie explained, sharing her motivation for supporting the ministry.

This will be Julie’s third year packing OCC shoeboxes. She initially saw a Facebook advert in 2022, but then after discovering mass packers on YouTube, she was inspired to send more.

“Just the idea of making a child happy for even half an hour after opening that box, and to bring a smile to their face is just the best feeling… I love shopping for bargains as well!”

We are very grateful for people like Julie, whose generosity and kindness is bringing joy to children in need around the world.

God is moving in the Philippines! 🙌

Almost 900km later, these two finished their cycle from Basel, Switzerland, to London, raising money for Operation Christmas Child 🎁🚴‍♂️

The task took Miguel and Valentin a total of 9 days, plus 2 additional rest days. Along the way, they bought and wrapped a gift to go in their OCC shoebox at each country they rode through.

Miguel’s step-mum has been involved with OCC for years, and Miguel has been helping her serve since he was eight years old!

What a blessing this gift will be to the child who receives it 👏

Many will choose to follow Christ and joyfully tell their friends and family what they have learned, taking the Gospel even further. Teachers for The Greatest Journey are trained volunteers with a heart for seeing children follow Jesus. They share God’s love with their students through what they teach and how they live. Many children have come to understand God’s love because of the love they’ve received from their teachers.

Angel gave her life to Jesus while attending The Greatest Journey. “I learned about being faithful and staying away from a sinful life,” the 12-year-old from Kenya said. “I can’t wait to be with Jesus each day, and I enjoy talking about Him with others.”
