We’re intending to fine NCFE £300,000 for failing to develop valid question papers for T Levels in healthcare, healthcare science and science in summer 2022.
The breaches include failing to follow processes to develop assessments and having inadequate processes to identify and manage risks that could impact assessment delivery.
We took unprecedented action to intervene and instruct the awarding organisation to withdraw, recalculate and reissue around 1,200 students’ results that year.
Ofqual Executive Director of Vocational and Technical Qualifications Catherine Large said:
“Students must have confidence in their results, whatever qualification they take. To achieve this, we set legally binding standards for all awarding organisations to adhere to.”

The exam or assessment must still test the same knowledge, skills and understanding for that qualification. 📜
Examples include large print or braille papers or 25% extra time in exams.
