A glimpse of the other end of Treehouse studio at Gatwick Production Studios premier Dolby Atmos Music suite. Featuring the 2.8m tall x 600mm wide Bass - Tree Traps designed by Acoustic Artist Brandon Knights. These are installed in all 4 corners of the studio and combined with simarly designed absorber / diffusers plus the most complex QRD or ‘Skyline’ diffusers, (all made by hand) contribute to the astonishing measured sound of the room. Complemented by classic original mid century chic furniture, Florence Knoll sofa and matching Mineral Herman Miller chairs, this makes for not only a super comfortable place to work, but the most aesthetically pleasing and inspiring studio we’ve seen. 3 independent Philips LED circuits provide any combination of thousands of colours, circling the entire room and in the beautifully designed Cloud diffusers overhead. There’s also silent A/C and double window for daylight and fresh air if required.

We have adopted Dolby’s recommended 9.1.4 monitoring layout for mastering music. This means that we have Left and Right Wide speakers further out than the main stereo pair, as well as 4 height speakers, two at the front and two at the rear on the ceiling to give the overhead localisation needed for mixing and mastering Dolby Atmos.

The Tower of Power! We chose as our monitoring partner as they were the only studio monitor manufacturer who make monitors that are compact enough, have enough bass extension and go loud enough to meet Dolby’s specifications whilst also building a sub capable of doing the same. Our monitoring is ultra-low distortion with the room’s response measuring linear from 15Hz all the way up to 55kHz for working in modern high-resolution formats. The subwoofer is the only white Genelec 7382A SAM in the world (With a frequency response down to 15Hz and a maximum SPL in excess of 130dB, the 7382A is Genelec’s most powerful subwoofer ever built)

Our first Dolby Atmos studio aka The Treehouse is complete! This is one of Europe’s best Dolby Atmos mix and mastering studios. Rated Gold Standard and certified by Dolby, this state-of-the-art Atmos mastering facility uses no bass management and is one of the best sounding (and looking) studios in the world. “The highest spec room built in the UK to date” - Dolby.
