Couldn't have said it better!
There is so much more to behaviour than most people think. Children don’t try to upset us, there is usually something behind it. They are communicating their need through behaviour. If we look behind the behaviour we can see a child who is doing the best they can
Being mentally healthy doesn’t just mean that you don’t have a mental health problem.
If you’re in good mental health, you can:
make the most of your potential, cope with life, play a full part in your family, workplace, community and among friends.
Some people call mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ and it’s just as important as good physical health.
Mental health is everyone’s business. We all have times when we feel down or stressed or frightened. Most of the time those feelings pass. But sometimes they develop into a more serious problem and that could happen to any one of us.
Everyone is different. You may bounce back from a setback while someone else may feel weighed down by it for a long time.
Your mental health doesn’t always stay the same. It can change as circumstances change and as you move through different stages of your life.
There’s a stigma attached to mental health problems. This means that people feel uncomfortable about them and don’t talk about them much. Many people don’t even feel comfortable talking about their feelings. But it’s healthy to know and say how you’re feeling.
Always here to help those who need a helping hand 💕
Can you relate with this and recognise yourself or your child? At some time in all our lives, we will find we are carrying around huge burdens, often masking our truth from the rest of our friends, family or work colleagues for fear of judgement.
Drawing & Talking simply helps you to lessen your load and give some breathing space.
Creating a safe and non judgemental space, this 12 week intervention allows you to work at unravelling all those complicated emotions and experiences, at your own pace.
Please drop me a message if you think I could help support you, or your family.
A brilliant read for ideas to keep those little people busy and supported during the holidays!

Free activities to do with your kids this summer to boost their wellbeing Make the most of your six weeks off school.
Please have a read and check out how amazing my bestie is. She is going above and beyond for her colleagues and our NHS. Without the NHS, we would be in a very different situation right now. The ambulance service is over worked and underpaid, with everyone's mental health taking a hit. These guys are amazing. 73.4 miles of swimming is crazy! But thats one length for everyone of her colleagues, and that is INSPIRATIONAL. Please give what you can, to support our front line when they need us the most ❤️

Now the sun is shining, it helps to put a smile on everyone's faces. Why not try some positive affirmations to make your or your child's day even better. Positive praise and reinforcement of these affirmations are a great support to those having a tough day!
This year's focus for *Mental Health week* is nature. Can you try and add something into your week to allow you to spend some time with nature? Here's some ideas....
🌟Yoga outside
🌟Plant some new flowers
🌟Use your sense to see what new things you can discover
🌟Take the longer walk home and explore
🌟Visit that national trust place you keep thinking about
🌟Go and feed the ducks
🌟Find some leaves you can take home and do some leaves pressing with!
There are so many ways to remember how amazing nature can be! Get out there and give it a go! 🌻🌳

A brilliant reminder from MHFA to take time to check in with yourself and others 🤍
How can drawing and talking support children and young people who have experience trauma?
1) Drawing taps implicit memory. Trauma and drawing are largely sensory experiences; drawing pictures about aspects of "what happened" prompts sensory memories of traumatic events.
2) Drawing actively engages children in the process of repair and recovery. It provides the possibility to move from a passive to an active role in the treatment process.
3) Drawing provides a symbolic representation of the trauma experience in a concrete, external format.
4) Drawing makes us a witness to children's trauma experiences.
5) Drawing increases children's verbal reports about emotionally laden events. Research supports that drawing encourages children to provide more details and to organize their narratives in a more manageable way than children who are asked only to talk about traumatic experiences.
6) Drawing assists in reduction of reactivity (anxiety) to trauma memories through repeated visual re-exposure in a medium that is perceived and felt by the client to be safe.

A bit about me...
My name is Paige, and I am a fully qualified advanced Drawing and Talking practitioner. I have worked within school settings for the last 10 years and for the last 6 years I have specialized in special needs and social, emotional and mental health needs. I am a qualified ELSA (emotional literacy), as well as holding several qualifications including psychology, SEN and childcare.
I have been using Drawing and Talking for the last 2 years and have seen first-hand how children and adults thrive from this non-directive and safe approach to heal and find resolutions to their issues. I always feel privileged to be involved in their challenges and being part of helping them along the journey brings me great reward.
I believe working 1-1 with children and adults through a Drawing and Talking programme allows them the opportunity to process the emotion without having to discuss the actual situation that is troubling them in detail (Unless they want to!). Sometimes when we feel anxious or distressed about something, we cannot verbalise the problem and that’s why Drawing and Talking sessions are led by the client, they are in control and the work supports them in processing their inner pain, confusion, anxiety and helps them to find their own resolutions.
I work in a school setting as well as starting my own practice Time4Mind. I provide this invention in the comfort of your own home where the child or adult feels most comfortable. Drawing and Talking is a 12-week programme the charge is £30.00 per session. I also offer these sessions using sand-play rather than drawing if this is preferred or necessary for personal circumstances. I have lots of experience and I am confident that together we can find a support a child or adult to find resolution. If you would like to discuss this more, please drop me an email because I would love to hear more about you.
