We had the privilege of hosting a remarkable seminars led by Master Chan Hing Gwan, focusing on the Yuen Chai Wan lineage of Wing Chun.
The event kicked off on Friday evening with a special session for our senior students, instructors, and owners of other Kung Fu Schools.
This session provided an intimate setting for in-depth exploration of Chi Sau with Chan Sifu’s particular nuances.
The seminar continued on Saturday and Sunday , attracting a diverse group of participants, including students and instructors from other Wing Chun organisations.
Master Chan’s comprehensive and detailed teaching covered key aspects of Yuen Chai Wan Wing Chun, emphasising practical application, precision, and intent.
His approach showcased techniques that were similar to familiar forms yet different in subtle, transformative ways, providing new insights and deepening our understanding of Wing Chun.
At 75 years old, Master Chan moved with astonishing fluidity, precision, and authority, illustrating the power and grace achievable through lifelong practice and mastery of Wing Chun.
His approachable and attentive teaching style was particularly impactful.
He went from person to person, offering tailored advice and adjustments, which greatly enhanced the learning experience.
His dedication to preserving the authenticity and effectiveness of this Wing Chun lineage was evident and appreciated by all.

Parents often tell us how much kung fu has helped their kids.
They mention how their children have gained confidence from learning to defend themselves, whether it's making new friends, exploring new places, or even raising their hand in class.
Parents also share how kung fu has taught their kids to handle emotions like anger, stress, and sadness, giving them better control over their feelings.
They've also said that practising kung fu has improved their coordination, which has carried over into their other sports and areas of their life.

Welcoming 2024 with an open heart and rather wet after walking back from the gym in the pouring rain.
The stationary bike has become one of the places I use for thought and introspection.
Today I was reflecting on the past year's challenges, the adventures, people I met, the ups and downs, what I’ve learnt, what I will and won't do again (hopefully), and how truly magical life is.
I’m looking forward to what this year brings, I’m going to embrace the opportunities that await me with excitement and optimism.
This new year is not just another year, but a fresh opportunity for growth, new encounters, deepening existing relationships, making new relationships, fueling my curiosity, and continuing to explore life’s wonders.
As we step into this year, let's cherish the connections we've made and warmly welcome the new ones that will come our way.
It's a time for us all to embrace change, grow from our experiences, and flourish in our own unique ways.
Here's to making 2024 a year where each of us finds new ways to thrive and discoveries that bring us joy.
Wishing everyone a year filled with love, joy, learning, and memorable moments!
As Christmas songs fill the air and lights sparkle all around, I’m reaching out with warm wishes for a Merry Christmas to you.
This season, rich with magic and joy, can also bring its share of challenges.
For some, it’s a time tinged with the sadness of missing loved ones or feelings of loneliness.
Yet, amidst these complex emotions, there lies a unique, almost tangible atmosphere of support and love.
Christmas isn’t just about the festive celebrations; it’s also a time for us to extend a hand, to open our hearts a little wider, and to remember that we’re all part of a larger family.
It’s in these moments of reaching out, softening, and allowing love in, that the true magic of the season reveals itself.
So, whether you’re surrounded by family, remembering someone special, or finding your own way to celebrate, know that the spirit of Christmas is about connection, kindness, and the warmth that comes from community.
Let’s embrace the beauty of this season, with all its highs and lows, and find comfort in the love that surrounds us.
Wishing you a Christmas filled with love, peace, and the special magic that this time of year brings.
