Fantastic work by Above Water!

It was awesome to take 40 wetsuits to Polperro Primary school today in Cornwall to benefit the children’s water confidence when learning water safety and drowning prevention. The suits will be used across the year groups, reducing costs of school activities and giving the pupils the benefits of warmer sessions in the schools small pool. Above Water does all it can to teach and promote water safety but also help facilitate others to do it, helping to cut out whatever hurdles maybe in their way 🤙 we do this through amazing partners like who understand how important this form of support can be to a school.
Who else is ready for some more of this at the weekend?

Did you hear our Managing Director James Trevelyan on BBC Radio Devon?
This week James spoke on Pippa Quelch's show to Rick Edwards, delving into the subject of wetsuit recycling!
Here at Circle One Surf Company we have always offered a wetsuit repair service at our HQ near , in order to make wetsuits last longer and prevent them ending up in landfill. We have also been recycling old wetsuits. Using the old neoprene in wetsuit repairs by creating patches and sections for the wetsuit repairs.
In April 2021 we announced our partnership with Barefoot Tech, allowing us to recycle even more wetsuits! Barefoot reuse and recycle our customers wetsuits into innovative, fashionable pieces giving another life cycle to the wetsuits. By extending this lifecycle it stops wetsuits from ending up in a landfill. By just reaching out to the surf community we have been able to recycle a HUGE number of wetsuits of any brand and stop them from reaching landfill.
In June 2023 we implemented a wetsuit recycling point in , at the surf shop BoardBarn in Braunton. We are super excited to roll this out to other locations across the country in the hope we can recycle the majority of wetsuits that have come to the end of their life.
You can listen to the show via the link below.

We love these!!! When we got hold of the first one of these 7' Retro Eggs, we just couldn't wait to get it into the sea. The board has all the hallmarks of a classic Egg; plenty of width to the nose and tail for easy paddling and take off, soft rails for hold on the wave and a gentle bottom concave to low rocker Vee on the tail for seamless rail to rail transitions. The Egg is all about simple lines and versatility; it works just as well in small messy surf as it does in bigger solid waves. The 2+1 fin set-up allows riding as a single fin when the mood takes or if it's a cruisy session.

Easter can be an excellent time for surfing in the UK, but it's important to keep in mind that the water temperatures can still be quite chilly. Here are some tips for Easter surfing in the UK:
Wear a wetsuit: Even if it's sunny outside, the water temperature can still be quite cold, so make sure to wear a wetsuit that's appropriate for the conditions.
Check the weather and surf conditions: Easter can be a bit of a hit or miss in terms of weather, so make sure to check the forecast before you head out. You can also check the surf conditions on websites such as Magicseaweed or Surfline.
Choose a sheltered spot: If the winds are strong, look for a spot that's sheltered from the wind. This will make the conditions more manageable and enjoyable.
Stay safe: Always surf with a friend or in a group, and make sure to follow basic safety rules, such as not surfing alone and avoiding areas with strong currents or rips.
Enjoy the holiday spirit: Easter is a time of celebration and joy, so take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the coastline and the thrill of surfing in the UK. Happy Easter!
Born out of a collaboration of Circle One and Cornwall based shaper, Chris Pearson, the ‘Forgotten’ range of surfboards is a limited edition run of 4 timeless retro shapes (from 7ft Egg to 9′ 6″ Noserider). All shapes are available in two colours in a glorious gloss resin tint finish. Chris is a dedicated old-school back-yard shaper with origins very similar to Circle One’s shaper and founder, Jeff Townsley. The collaboration is a coming together of shaping expertise and boards that will deliver the kind of performance and connection to the ocean that only years of shaping knowledge can bring.

Circle One Heritage
Circle One Surf Co. was founded in Exeter, Devon by legendary SurfBoard shaper, Jeff Townsley, back in the early days of 1969.
As a young guy in the early 60’s, fortunate enough to live the surf dream , Jeff travelled with his fellow surf buddies through Southern France, Spain, Portugal, Canaries, Morocco and beyond in the essential beaten up VW camper-van. Those journeys like nothing else fired his passion for riding waves and surfing to the max.
So, back in the UK and with feet on the ground, it is a classic story of humble corporate beginnings – making boards for himself and his friends taking inspiration from US Surf magazines. All the while Jeff was testing new designs, materials and production techniques, thinking how he could do things better, challenging the norm.
Over 40 years on and the Circle One Surf evolution continues. Today the brand is synonymous with technological innovation and craftsmanship, the same starting points of Jeff’s first exploits.
The history continues...
