Yesterday, we said farewell to Mick Long, who is retiring after an impressive 30 years at the Trust. He was thrown a wonderful retirement celebration, in honour of his commitment and contribution to our portering team.

When asked about his retirement plans, he said

“I am 66 years old, it is time for me to relax and use the many hobbies I have to venture in to this new journey with my family. It was a pleasure and privilege to work with so many people and supporting our patient. I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone.”

We wish Mick all the best for his retirement, he will be missed by his colleagues and those who he met in his 30 years with us.

In honour of National Play Day which was on Wednesday, we'd like to give a special shoutout to our amazing Play Team who work hard to ensure the children on our Paediatric wards feel comfortable and reassured before receiving medical treatment.

They encourage various forms of play for children of all ages, whether it be finger painting or playing Fifa on the X Box, to give them an added boost of confidence and emotional support before any treatment.

Today we're celebrating our junior doctors as they reach the end of their rotations! 🌟

We held an awards ceremony as a way of saying thank you for all their great work over the past year, run by our Director of Medical Education Dr Channing and our Medical Director, Subhro Banerjee.

The winners were voted by our trainees, supervisors and foundation schools.

We concluded the ceremony with a special thank you to our hard-working team who work in our Postgraduate Medical Centre, who continually support our junior doctor staff throughout the rotation process.
