Take part in our six week adventure challenge on a Tuesday evening from 10 September at our HQ in Addiscombe.

Scouting will provide your child with opportunities to learn new skills whilst having lots of fun and earning lots of badges.

Was £36.50 now £25 per young person, which includes six week Adventure course, a T Shirt and an Adventure day at a local campsite.

Happy World Scout Scarf Day

On this day (1 August) in 1907 at a camp on Brownsea Island, Scouting was started, under the leadership of Robert Baden Powell.

Today, one hundred and seventeen years and millions of such camps later, countless millions of lives, of people all across our world, have been changed by and because of Scouting.

I spent the last hour polishing our trophies ahead of tomorrow's AGM.

We have a new trophy, the Kevin & Bernadette Moynihan Award. This award is for a Cub, Beaver, or Squirrel who has gone above and beyond, showing Scout values, courage, kindness, and a 'never give up' spirit.

This is all so timely with our AGM tomorrow. We are an active group with a large friendly bunch of volunteers. We do have fun. But at times we are stretched. We really could do with new volunteers.

Some of of the tasks that are causing us issues are really easy. They just need someone with about four hours a month to spare.

Marquee hire coordinator is one such task we really could do with filling.

Croydon District Scouts urgently need help and support with maintaining and updating the District website, drive the District social media platforms forward, and the quarterly editing and publication of this newsletter. We have recently carried out a ‘Skills Audit’ around the District because

Happy Founders Day. We are celebrating on Sunday with our Church Parade.

What was your favourite Scouting memory in 2023.

Mine was the Scouts trip to the Houses of Parliament.

Scouting can be used to learn many skills and making friendships but most of all having a great time.

We let the Scouts loose on social media again.

I think that the 28th Croydon scouts is a good place to have a bit of fun and learning every week.

Thank you Sarah Jones MP: for visiting our Scout Group and helping us celebrate UK Parliament week. Sarah was asked lots of questions by the Scouts from crime, to NHS, to empty Central Croydon to the funding of TFL.

Over the weekend of 28 October we took 60 people from 28th Croydon here. Yes it was wet! But it did not dampen our spirits and we had a lot of fun. Beavers and Cubs came for the day. Scouts and older Cubs stayed over night and continued the fun.

Our Scouts' core uniform is more than just clothing; it represents the journey that shapes young minds and builds lifelong friendships👕👭
