Cakes for Mum’s are special! I didn’t get the chance to see my parents reach 80 so making cakes to celebrate a parent’s milestone birthday is simply special. This was a fresh fruit and passionfruit cream cake to celebrate an 80th birthday today.

A decadent gulab jamun cake for a gulab jamun fan Siya who celebrated her 16th birthday on Monday. Hope you had a fabulous birthday Siya!
Gulab jamun is a popular Indian dessert consisting of fried balls of a dough made from milk solids and flour flavoured with cardamom and soaked in an aromatic syrup spiced with cardamom and saffron. This was eggless cake flavoured with cardamom and saffron layered and decorated with freshly made gulab jamun and fresh cream.

One of last weekend’s cakes I absolutely enjoyed making! The remit was a chocolate cake for a dad turning 80 who loved gardening, bird watching and had not sighted a red squirrel! It’s a joy to make cakes for clients celebrating their parents milestone birthdays!
