LAB DAY! 🥽🥼⠀
⠀
For the past year we have been redeveloping our drinks and partnered with LAFIC for the technical part. Our drinks have been in a incubator and last week we did a final taste test to sign off on our project. Happy to say that the drinks tasted AMAZING! ⠀
⠀
We had initially thought that reformulating the recipe would take us a month or so and it ended up taking a year 😫 ⠀
⠀
Great things take time. ⠀

HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA
There's been some confusion around hibiscus and we completely understand why - there are over 200 varieties globally. The one we use, and most popular in food and drinks, is Hibiscus Sabdariffa which is said to be native to West Africa.
There are two types of this variety - a red one and white one, the latter is not grown as much and therefore not as accessible as its red relative.
Inside the beautiful hibiscus flower is a calyx which can be used fresh or dried - we use the latter for our Hibiscus Punch as it has a richer flavour and deeper colour.

Our Story
Carisips was founded in 2018 by a blogger and food enthusiast who spent 18 months exploring food and drink, particularly that of the Caribbean.
During this venture she noticed that certain food and drink were popular amongst other cultures some being African, Australian, Asian, American and Middle Eastern. She found it heart-warming that many of us share the same elements of our culture and through this we are more alike than different.
The discovery of these new sensational, enticing, tropical flavours prompted her to make many of the new beverages that she would come across. These were given to friends, family and colleagues where the response was mainly positive.
Her ambition to get on to the other side of the food industry meant it was a no brainer that she was going to start manufacturing and selling these drinks. Furthermore, after visiting many eateries and food shops she became unimpressed with the range of soft drinks available. Sometimes underwhelmed by the flavour other times overwhelmed with the amount of sugar that could be savoured. She felt that the beverage industry was yearning for something new. Something rich and intriguing. Something natural and also delicious.
