Flints are looking to recruit a temporary (parental leave cover) Customer Service Assistant based at our Dartford warehouse.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and interest in the theatre, live and recorded entertainment industry in general while those with a background in the technical side would be particularly desirable.

Experience in retail or call centre environments will be an advantage.

This is a telephone-based role so candidates should be confident in dealing with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.

We expect excellent customer service skills and are looking for people who are methodical, diligent, and reliable. The department can get very busy so the ability to work effectively when under pressure is essential.

Flints was proud to have sponsored a 3-day Distemper Painting Workshop led by Wendy Waszut-Barrett, where a few talented scenic artists came together to learn historic distemper techniques. For the NT's recent production of London Tide, designer Bunny Christie presented the NT workshops team with a unique challenge of bringing X River Groynes onto the stage. The weight of using real river groynes presented a problem, as they are solid wood, each one would have weighed at least a tonne! However, as the NT is committed to Theatre Green Book Practices, using the traditional technique of poly-carving lightweight forms was very much counter to this. We were therefore delighted that the NT team, with particular mention to Gavin Gibson, were willing to give CompostaBlock - the only compostable expanded polystyrene alternative available, a go! To everyone's delight it worked a treat. Starting with ply frames, Compostablock was stuck to the visible surfaces, and then carved into with a sharp knife. It was then sealed and coated with texture before being painted and aged to give an extremely effective look. Swipe to see a selection of shots from the making process and finished pieces!

There were a few real river groynes sourced and used on stage for the production, and we dare you to try and spot which ones are real!

Back then we provided 200 platform brooms, 460 builders' buckets and 200 galvanised metal bins! Does anyone remember spotting them in the closing ceremony as used by STOMP?
