Preparing the horses for the British summer like… 😛🌦️

💅Would you like some fabulous pictures of you and your horse(s)? Would you like to feel drop-dead gorgeous in them, by having your hair and make-up done professionally? And would you like to have your horses, and your own, personality shine through in the pics? Then I have exciting news for you!!

💄In an unexpected turn of events, before I dedicated my life to training horses, I used to be a make-up artist and hair stylist. I absolutely loved making people feel like their best selves and confident in their skin. It’s a very niche thing to have a passion for horses and make-up, and when I met the amazing photographer Johnny we came up with the idea of creating this shoot!
📸Johnny Applebee from XploreWithIntent is a photographer who has years of experience in shooting pictures of both people and animals. He as a passion for capturing stories and making people feel comfortable in front of the camera.

🤩 So, on the 17th and 18th of August we are teaming up and offer a photo shoot with you and your horse(s), where you will get your hair and make-up done beforehand. Johnny and I both have a passion for making personalities shine through the camera. and we pride ourselves in making sure we get the pictures that will make you go: ‘that’s so us!!’

We come to your location and together, we can have a fun and creative day. Capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

Make-up and hair accessories will be provided.
Included in the shoot are 7 edited pictures, 2 of which will be printed. Extra edits available for additional costs 😌

Last weekend we went out to see the lovely Karen and her horse Flower. 🌺

Flower has had a couple of bad experiences with loading/travelling with previous owners. She wouldn’t load anymore and if she was on, she wanted to get out as quick as possible!

I have now seen them a couple of times and couldn’t be more thrilled with the progress! Flower is now loading confidently, is starting to really relax on the trailer and has gotten much better at being closed in! We have a little way to go yet before traveling, but I’m sure Karen and Flower will be off and away in no-time! 🌸

At the Just Horsemanship introduction course, we go over how horses naturally learn and communicate, and how to implement this in your day to day handling and training.
We will be teaching some skills like loose communication, double lining and groundwork excersizes that you can use to help your horse overcome fears, questions or simply to teach new fun stuff!

Spooky horses? No problem! We will spend time learning how to help a horse that’s worried and how to keep yourself safe. Doing lots of obstacles and desensitizing with a few different horses. Boosting both your confidence, and that of your horse.

Another fun weekend spent at yesterdays obstacle day!😍

We had some great sessions with VERY brave horses.
I can’t get enough of these days and always find it amazing how every session is so different, even though the obstacles are set up the same for every horse.
And of course they are! They all have different personalities, weaknesses and strengths and so each of them require a slightly different touch of training. 💛

🐴Sometimes, it can be nice to hand over a bit of the training with your horse.

🤔for example, if you want to back or pre-start your youngster. Or maybe you have a ridden issue such as bucking or bolting you can’t seem to break. Or if your horse is showing any other ridden or behavioral problems that are dangerous, and you feel like you are stuck.

🫣 of course, it can be very daunting to send your horse off to training livery. Our horses are like our children and obviously, we want to make sure they are trained in a suitable and pleasant way.

🙋🏻‍♀️ At Just Horsemanship, the wellness of your horse comes first. This shows in both management and training.
I work at a pace your horse can cope with and all our training methods are completely violence-free and based on the natural behavior of the horse. I always want to build on positive experiences and make sure all the horses are happy and healthy.

👍And of course, you probably want to be included in the training. So, you are always welcome to come over and watch and/or take part in the sessions.

😍 there is nothing better than taking a horse back home after a period of training livery, in which both of you have learned some new skills.
This was the case for two recent students (being horses), and so, we have space for a new horses in training!

Natural Horsemanship, to me, is any method of training horses based on their natural behavior. Violence-free.
By implementing how horses communicate, learn and work together in a herd in the way you work with your horse, you can create a better understanding and bond. It will be easier for your horse to understand what you mean, and easier for you to pick up on subtle signals your horse might give you.

During the course, we go over a little bit of theory, but mostly hands-on practice working with a few different horses.

In the theory, we will go over a few topics, involving:
- Herd behavior
- How do horses naturally communicate
- Recognizing stress (and relaxation) signals
- How to implement natural behavior in your day-to-day management
- How to help your horse overcome fear

It’s coming up to Dee’s last few days with us, and I couldn’t be more proud of this little lady.
Dee came to me to be started has taken everything in her stride every step of the way.
I’m beyond happy with what we have achieved and can’t wait to see what her endurance career has in store for her and her amazing owner 🧡
