We haven't posted in a while, not because we have forgotten about you all 😁.. We have just been busy working on some challenging and exciting projects.

Spark Design and Planning designed and secured planning permission to convert this listed building within a conservation area in Derby into 6 studio flats and a 5-Bed HMO! Needless to say this was a challenging project but the result is fantastic. The client who is an experience developer is extremely happy 😊

What a result! 3no. apartments approved at a former pub in

The landlord and owner decided to close down the pub due to lack of business and increasing running costs. He contacted Spark Design and Planning to help with planning permission.

We worked with the council who agreed the pub was no longer viable.

The character of the building will be retained during the conversion.

Planning approved for a large 4-bed new build detached dwelling in !

We are designing a 5-bed modern style house in Burton on Trent! This is a sloping site which currently has no vehicular access! We arranged a topographical survey and modeled the site in 3D. We then redesigned the levels in accordance with planning and building regs requirements. The house will have a 5m wide access and 3 parking spaces.

We look forward to sharing the final design complete with gabion retaining walls!

This design to convert the upper two floors of a retail unit is almost ready to submit for permission. Two fantastic apartments will be created in Derby City centre.

Conversion from an early 20th century industrial building into 10,000 sq ft of modern retail space in the heart of Derby with parking!

Spark Design and Planning have been commissioned to provide Technical design services for a major refurbishment of a former industrial building which is being converted into a trendy Cafe. The designs include a front and side balcony terrace which will serve as a covered smoking area.

Its great to see a completed project which we worked on. We provided Planning and Building regs services for this project consisting of 3no. new build family homes. Well done to the client and builder for a great end result.

Planning approved! This extension will double the amount of living space to this prominent and characterful 3-storey home in Burton on Trent. We’re now progressing with detailed building regulations drawings including steelwork design.

What a difference a bit of colour can make ! We designed 5no. 1000 sq/ft light industrial units for a site in Burton on Trent. We prepared 3D visuals to help the developer market the site. The plans are ready for Planning submission.

The client required detailed elevation views for this annexe building due to being located within a conservation area.

We are converting two floors over an existing shop into 4no. apartments! This includes design of a large rear dormer. There are many design considerations from minimum room sizes, adequate natural lighting, fire safety and sound/insulation requirements. Working in 3D enables us to see potential problems and design them out at an early stage.

This character-full property in Sutton Coldfield is being re-modeled and extended with a single storey rear extension complete with bifold doors and a 5m x 2m roof lantern! We are also designing the loft conversion with front and rear dormer windows

Currently working on outline planning for a tricky site with lots of trees and other issues! We worked with the arboricultural consultant to prepare all the required information and look forward to a positive decision within the next few weeks.

Meeting clients' requirements is our number 1 priority !

Work in progress! Converting this former shop to 4 apartments. We designed a cost effective 3m x 9m double side extension which allows 4 good size apartments to be created.

Just approved planning permission for a bedsit style annexe building for a lovely young couple living with family who needed a bit of extra space.

It will include a kitchenette / living area and shower room.

This was an interesting project! The site was constrained on all sides so we had to consider amenity of future residents and also privacy of nearby homes. We had to make changes to the exterior facade so we went for a contemporary design which satisfied the Planning team. We also prepared interior designs, secured planning permission and carried out full working drawings for building regulations approval.

This complete re-modelling project will transform this bungalow into a stylish and modern 5-bed family home.

Very pleased with this result! A commercial project in Birmingham requiring design and planning permission services to convert a run-down mixed use building into an office complex.

Working on a loft conversion project in with rear dormer which will provide a master bedroom with a large en-suite within the loft space!

2019 was a great year for Spark Design and Planning. We carried some awesome projects including new build housing schemes, bespoke new builds, large home extensions and also barn conversions!

Great to see the steelwork erected at this site in Derby. Unfortunately, the previous workshop was accidentally burnt down. We prepared Architectural plans for the new workshop and also assisted with the design for the structural steelwork!
