Reflecting on an incredible year! 🚀 #2023 has been a whirlwind of growth and achievement for our team, and we're thrilled to share some highlights.

Last week, we celebrated our successes with an unforgettable evening at Lorentes Derby, surrounded by our amazing team, spouses, and partners. It was a moment to appreciate our collective efforts and look forward to the exciting opportunities that await us in #2024.

🌟 🎥 LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! That's a Wrap at Aida Bliss on Chester Green, Derby! 🎬 🌟

What an exhilarating start to the week it's been for us! Over the past three months, our dedicated project team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the magic of filmmaking to the Union Foundry building. Our super-talented client Damien Walters is spearheading an upcoming movie that has turned this iconic location into a cinematic backdrop.

Whilst the cameras have stopped rolling, we're already back at the drawing boards, gearing up for a planning submission for a world-leading stunt and gymnastics centre with cutting-edge film production studios on Chester Green.

This venture is not just about entertainment; it's a game-changer for Derby, adding a staggering £12M per year of economic and social value to our city.

We're already thrilled about the positive impact this project will have on our City, and we can't wait to share sneak peeks of the existing building, on-site activity, and the project proposals in the coming months.

Stay tuned for a journey that goes beyond the silver screen, as we shape the future of film-making right here in Derby!

📸 We are excited to share some progress photographs from the site of our luxurious new build home in Allestree, Derby! 🏡✨

This project entails the creation of a spacious 5-bed family home, designed to provide ample room for comfortable living. The vision behind this design is to offer generous reception areas, providing the perfect setting for gatherings and creating memorable moments with loved ones. A highlight of the property is the expansive family kitchen diner, featuring full-height sliding doors that seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces.

🏗 PROJECT UPDATE 🏗 - 22 Albert Street, Newark

We are thrilled to share some progress photos of our renovation project at 22 Albert Street located within Newark Conservation Area. The historic building has a rich past, originally a Victorian School and later used as a Meeting Hall and Antiques Centre.

We are converting the building into 9 bespoke luxury flats that will be truly one-of-a-kind. Most excitingly is the transformation of the school hall into 5 duplex units. With master bedrooms, walk-in dressing space, and spacious shower rooms built over open-plan living-dining spaces, these units are ideal professional living spaces.

We are also converting the original classroom spaces and later rear extensions into new flats, varying in size from 1-bed units to a 3-bed 2-storey home. Each space will take advantage of the original features, large windows, and high ceilings, giving truly unique and individual homes close to the centre of Newark.

The show flat has recently been completed to an incredible standard. Our team can't wait to see all the other units transformed to match.

Exciting developments at 107 Station Street in Burton! Our team was on site this morning to conduct a listed building survey as part of the next phase of restoration work on this charming and historic property. We are delighted to be working with the client to make a planning application on their behalf for the conversion of this former brewery building into Grade A modern office space for a new tenant.

Our team of experts will thoroughly inspect the building, taking note of its condition and any potential issues to ensure that the restoration is done to the highest standards before submitting details for the listed building planning application. We are committed to preserving and restoring this beloved building to its former glory. Keep an eye out for updates and photos of progress over the coming months.

Construction work is now commencing on the restoration of 22 Albert Street to convert this former school into nine unique residential units in the heart of Newark-On-Trent's Conservation Zone. The former school hall will be converted into bespoke duplex units and the former classrooms into spacious apartments. We can't wait to see the transformation complete!

Greg is a 2021 graduate of Architectural Technology & Practice at the University of Derby bringing his technical skillset, surveying experience and fresh design approaches to the growing team at Sigma Architects.

Thursday was packed with a trio of site visits to Newark, Derby & Mansfield. Last but not least, a couple of proposals for specialty industrial units to close out the week.
