If you have a few minutes spare I would really appreciate if you can read this post as it’s an issue very close to my heart.
Owning a studio in the city centre I meet a lot of people whether they come occasionally, regularly, just passing through, having piercings, tattoos, and some just pop in to chat. I love meeting you all and as many will tell you i am now the proud owner of the nickname of ‘studio mum’! I really want to help where I can and your experiences and concerns matter to me.
I love that our customers of all ages and backgrounds feel that they can talk to me about everything and anything.
It hurts my heart to say that unfortunately I’m hearing so so many times about unprovoked attacks on young people in Derby. In the city centre,the local parks, on activity grounds, outside the shops, it seems as though it’s becoming an increasingly horrifying problem and it breaks my heart in all honesty. I see young people trying to go out and meet friends who struggle to socialise, who struggle with their mental health, who struggle to feel like they ‘fit in’ in a lot of places and are just trying to go about their day and are falling victim to horrendous acts of violence, verbal abuse and so on.
Prevention of this appears to be a difficult task but I will continue to push forward.
I will be hosting an event at the studio for young people to meet with community safety officers and police where they can discuss any experiences they have had themselves, they can discuss how they feel about it, they can voice what help they feel would be useful etc and they can be given advise on what to do if they find themselves in these situations. Details will follow….
In the meantime I feel it’s very important to stress that the studio is everyone’s ‘safe space’ . I can’t speak for every business in the Safe Space scheme but here at Demons of Ink we are a safe space for ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE. If you feel threatened, are experiencing any type of threatening behaviour, if you feel nervous or intimidated or something has happened and you need help, or to talk, please feel able to come to us. We are here for you 🖤

It’s time we properly introduce you all to Lucy (otherwise known as Luna) .tats for those who haven’t already met her ☺️
Lucy’s tattoo name is Luna and this is the name you’ll generally find that we use to avoid confusion with now having two Lucy’s at the studio!!
Lunas tattoo journey began in February when she attended our Apprentice Skills Development Course which she completed with flying colours in June. Her natural ability along with a real eagerness to learn shone through and we were super excited to be able to offer Lucy a place at the studio as an apprentice after the course finished.
Lucy has been working tirelessly behind the scenes continuing her learning, practising on fake skins and observing the artists working and has firmly established herself as part of the team.
Having turned 18 earlier this year Lucy is the youngest member of the team and with such a fire in her belly already for this I’m sure she has a very long and successful career ahead of her 🔥
Luna has been putting together sets of flash designs ready for you all which are available from the end of August.

Piercings are available Tuesday to Saturday every week with late evening openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout July.
I’m going to be unavailable for piercings for part of August while I enjoy some family time over the Summer Holidays so if you’re planning on your next piercing then get yourselves booked in before then!
Walk ins are available or if you’d like to book a specific time please DM the studio and we will get you booked in 🖤
