I've whittled my editing to-do list down to only two weddings which means I've allowed myself an afternoon of admin. What a treat! Wrote you a blog though. All about confetti. It includes the words "It's only confetti, it won't kill you" and describes how to make itty-bitty bits of dead plant life enhance your wedding day.

A quick trip up to Renishaw yesterday for my first visit to The Sitwell Arms. My three hour package was perfect for this couple and we fitted lots in and had a good time doing it. From bridal portraits in the honeymoon suite, a first-look with dad, ceremony, group shots, portraits, party candids, venue and styling shots and even a mock cake-cut before I left.

When you buy enough confetti for a super long confetti tunnel plus spontaneous fun photo opportunities afterwards. 💕

I had a brilliant time at Heathland Grove yesterday with these fun and down-to-earth newlyweds and their best good boi Paulo.

Shout out to the brilliant staff at the venue who were welcoming, helpful and who not only organised the confetti tunnel for me, but even held my spare camera while I shot it.

On the fourth of July when most Americans were celebrating their independence from the tyranny of British rule, Bethany (native of the state of Florida) chose to align herself to humble Brit, Declan (native of Derbados) and I was there to capture their historic, if ironic, union. Such a lovely bubbly couple. I wish them all the best in their future together.

Nice to be on home turf for the wedding of Jade and Bradley at The Old Bell in Derby last week. Followed up by taking Derby Photography Group to the Celebrate Sadlergate event yesterday. Buzzing atmosphere from both and a short walk home afterwards.

I've been back at one of my favourite Derby venues. This gorgeous couple dropped into Derby Museum and Art Gallery after their Derby Registry Office wedding. I did my degree in fine art at Derby Uni so the Joseph Wright Gallery holds a special place in my heart. A truly great painter from our home town with a photographer's understanding of light. Of course, the happy couple don't look too shabby either. 😂

Just sent this gorgeous pair their wedding album, and so the editing backlog gets beaten into submission for another day! This couple were so much fun and up for a laugh with every photo opportunity. If you want to do a champagne spray image like this on your big day, just let me know. I'll bring the bottle and a long lens!!

Joyful day with this lovely couple yesterday, capturing their outdoor wedding at Morley Hayes. He's punk rock in tweed, she's 80s soul in diamantes and lace. May they continue to enjoy and celebrate each other's hobbies and passions during their London minimoon and for many years to come.

Golden hour light. Most people fit their couples portraits into their drinks reception, but this is often early afternoon when the sun is high in the sky and not very flattering. I always recommend heading out again for a few minutes in the evening to make the most of the gorgeous side light. Even if you don't get an actual sunset sky this golden hour can make all the difference to your photos.

Yellow weather warning on your wedding day. Not a problem for this lovely couple. Their city wedding gave us loads of opportunities to duck into arcades and alleyways out of the rain. They'll be remembering that walk through town, huddling under big umbrellas, for years to come. Don't be worried about the weather on your big day, make some memories!

I'm at Derby Arena today, super excited to be part of a larger wedding exhibition. So many great suppliers are just making the finishing touches to their stands. We're waiting to say hi, come see us!

Today's act of super-efficiency saw me take Derby Photography Group for a session around Belper Mills then meet this adorable pair for an engagement shoot. They needed no help from me in making each other smile and I can't wait to shoot their wedding Calke Abbey in September.

Got to get through a summer of weddings first, but looking forward to being at this one!

First wedding of the year in the can and previews are out to my lovely clients. This gorgeous, bubbly couple had a charming wedding at The White Hart in Alfreton, filled with colour and themed to compliment their British and Mexican heritage. A great start to my 2024 season.
