currently on restriction 71665 of the year 💅🏻 being an artist shouldn’t involve constantly having to censor your work, or be punished for sharing it. it’s draining af when it’s your livelihood and it’s really no wonder so many of my talented friends are having to give up. unless content featuring women’s bodies directly caters for the male gaze the algorithm will strike it, and even your own followers won’t be shown your content. i can’t help but think that that is in some way because it’s been trained with the rampant misogyny on the meta platforms. we see they value quantity over quality over and over again. you suck big time and 🖕🏻

please share your favourite artists when you can and remember to shop small as we move into the gifting season. we need all the support we can get 🖤

this is as much a reminder for me as it is for everyone else out there who is a creative posting online 🫶🏻 the past few years have been absolutely brutal and relentless for censorship and hiding art amongst a sea of tacky, low effort content. we’re now at a point where a machine wants to see throwaway clips made for infinite scrolling instead of intentional pauses, and AI generated art (made in a few clicks and spat out by a computer at the expense of artists very real work being scraped) is absolutely everywhere. i’ve been restricted for more time than I haven’t since 2022 and despite the years spent building a wonderful community of people who want to see my work and support me as an artist, the truth is now only a few % of those do. if you create content featuring women’s bodies that doesn’t cater to the male gaze, you can guarantee it’s going to be flagged as undesirable in seconds - even they have learnt to hate us. it’s having a huge impact on our ability to continue creating authentically, and many who once did can no longer sustain a liveable income from it. i’ve seen too many wonderfully talented friends have to close their shops due to the work not being worth the return it once was. we don’t live in a world where art is truly valued or respected, despite artists being crucial at every step of the process, of ~everything~ you consume.

so to summarise: your work is important, necessary and an act of rebellion in a world ever more reliant on soulless machines. its value isn’t represented by likes on a post or views.

lastly, please remember to support human artistry, and boost your fave artists posts when you see them. the world will be a very dull place without us, and AI can’t generatively fill the hole we’d leave behind. ✨
