Dr Cath Feely, Senior Lecturer in History, has recently launched a co-curated exhibition 'Derby Days at Wembley: The British Empire Exhibition of 1924' which is now open at the Museum of Making in Derby until December 2024.

The exhibition explores how and why Derby's political, social, industrial and civic elites combined forces to create an ambitious ten-day display at the British Empire Exhibition to tell the story of an ‘ancient’ town that was also a modern progressive centre of Empire.

This exhibition and event was generously supported by funding by the University of Derby Cultural and Creative Industries Theme, the University of Derby College of Arts, Humanities and Education Research Fund, the Social History Society, and the University's CivicLAB.

Yesterday we invited a group of local schools to join us for the Young Engineers and Scientists challenge to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first successful expedition around the world. 🌎

The students had a task to create a craft or vehicle that can navigate its way across various terrains between start and finish points carrying two passengers. 🏎️ The students finished the day by presenting their work to the other groups.

We had some fantastic results. Well done everyone! 👏
