Dog walkers in Waingroves just be aware, it may not be anything and of course could be completely innocent, it however has shook me up a little. Around 4pm today, starting to go dark, lone male in his 20’s ( grey tracksuit, hoody up wearing a cap) loitering at the gates to the quarry, not a place to arrange to meet a friend. On seeing me he started walking ahead but didn’t really say anything, he was walking really slowly. I allowed him to get ahead slightly, I saw him remove something from his right pocket, now again it could be my paranoia but the way it was held made me bolt, on bolting about 20 metres I heard him whistle like he was whistling my dogs back, they of course ran with me, I didn’t stop or look back and within 200 metres I was in a more open area.
Again, if you are this person I am aware it could be innocent but a conversation rather than grumbling a couple of words may have reassured me and not sure what the whistling my dogs was all about.
Wanted to post just to make people aware as in 15 years I’ve not really seen many lone, young males loitering in that area, without a dog.
Please don’t dispose of your pumpkins in the woods or parks as they can be harmful to wildlife, in my experience nothing generally eats them and they just become a sloppy mess that needs cleaning up. Try making a spicy pumpkin soup, would be my advice.
With Halloween season upon us, just a gentle reminder not to leave your Pumpkins in the woodland once you have done with them, as they can be harmful to our wildlife. 🐾🦔
Looking forward to reading this book I’ve just picked up by local author and good friend John Keeling, always enjoy listening to John who is a great storyteller. The books are available from Alison&Wood on Church street Ripley.
