Knit, Stitch, and Natter is back! This year, pupils will be stitching a small square with images that represent their personality and school life. These squares will then be stitched together into a big embroidery and put on display. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required!
Congratulations to all of those who entered the book-opoly summer reading challenge. You all did amazingly and everyone who entered has been given a book as a prize!

We're celebrating on the 26th September. We have a fab new display in the LRC full of fun facts about different European languages. Your challenge is to try and use some of the words and facts from the display in your lessons and at home!

So much Tudor history to celebrate today! Firstly happy birthday to Queen Elizabeth I. On the other hand, we commemorate the death of Catherine Parr. Not only that, Thomas Howard 4th duke of Norfolk, was arrested for his part in the Rodolfi plot. It’s all go today! You can read more with this selection of books in the LRC,
A big welcome to our year 7s and year 11s! This year, the LRC has a silent study for those needing a quiet space to work and revise. We also have PCs for anyone who has difficulties getting online at home.
Please help the LRC get new term ready! If your child has any school library books at home, please can these be returned to the LRC by the end of term so that the library can be refreshed and ready for everyone in September!

On this day in 1687, Isaac Newton was born. Famous for his theories on gravity and the laws of motion, we have many science books in the LRC that will help you to discover some of the amazing things Newton found out.

Our LRC reading badges are very popular with students, combining reading with creative tasks. One student has just completed their creator badge, reproducing the dragon from the front cover of The Priory of the Orange Tree by . This is amazing, well done!

Carnegie Book Awards Trip On Thursday, 16th June, Book Club members took a trip to West Park to watch the winner of the Carnegie Book Awards be announced.
On this day in 1906, novelist Catherine Cookson was born. We have these stunning editions if 3 of her works in the LRC.
Our students have had a fantastic day at West Park Secondary School celebrating the Carnegie Book Awards. All of our students engaged in the activities laid on and presented very convincing pitches for their given books including some dramatic acting! They have been a credit to the school.
We are preparing ourselves for the Carnegie Book award finale tommorrow by completing some of the author’s challenges. This fantastic example from Casey is her bag inspired by Punching the Air. The task was to think about what it would mean if you had to leave home and what you would pack if you just had one rucksack.
On this day in 1645, the Battle of Naseby was fought in Northamptonshire. Known as the key battle of the English Civil War, the 12,000 strong royalist army was defeated by the 15,000 parliamentarian troops. Year 8s cover the civil war in history and here in the LRC, we have lots of books on the Stuarts and the civil war to help you expand your studies. Find these in the 900s non fiction.
This tense game of Risk has been going on for 4 weeks in games club! The first player has just been knocked out after occupying all of Asia last week! It just shows that everything can change so quickly!
On this day in 1836, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson became the first qualified physician in Britain. She was also the first mayor of Aldeburgh, we have lots of books in the LRC celebrating women in science. This one (530.09) celebrates women pIn physics and engineering.
On this day in 1753, the British Museum was founded by an act of parliament. The museum opened in 1959. Check out this book in the LRC, published by the museum, which explores the history of the world through 25 Important cities. Find the book in the oversize section, 909.
One of our fabulous knit, stitch and natter pupils (LRC club) has made these stunning scarves. Starting with no knitting experience at the start of the year, I’m sure you’ll agree they are flying now!
