A little selection brightening up the bedroom today.
Includes cosmos, verbena, roses, lavender and astrantia.
Some prettiness I forgot to share the other week. All home grown and still just about brightening up the house.
Sunshine and a quiet moment while little one is asleep.
Today's colourful corner (complete with dusty gin glasses) with today's garden flowers. I've been surprised at how much colour there is in the garden at the moment, considering it needs a big tidy. The fox gloves were a nice self seeded surprise hiding next to the shed, too.
This weekends pick from the garden.
Trying to find the light where I can today.
The first pick from the garden this year.
Not sure how consistent I'll be this year as I've not posted since September so it might be you'll see me again around Christmas time. Heart just hasn't been in social media recently.
Anyway cheering us all up with these lovelies from in the garden.
Just a little note to say I know I have been very quiet on the old socials for quite a while now. Some of you may have caught my post last year when we were expecting our first child and the decision to slow down with The Sugared Rose.
Well, I think it’s fair to say that winding down now looks like stopping all together. This past year has been a whirlwind of making the most of maternity leave and then hitting the ground running when returning to work in my position at Pendragon. It has been overwhelming at times and I have come to the realisation that while I had planned to maybe return to cakes alongside my main employment (as I have always done). I just can’t do it all and enjoy my new and growing family.
So as I said previously a little over a year ago…
Winding down and eventually stopping cakes had been on my mind for a while, particularly after COVID lockdowns forced me to slow down. So, while I am sure I will miss turning on the oven, rolling out fondant and picking up a paintbrush loaded with edible colour I would be lying if I said this has been a hard decision. As I just love spending every minute I can with our little one.
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has ordered a cake with me over the years, being a small part in your very special occasions has been wonderful and I have loved every single creation. I have also loved meeting and working with so many truly brilliant and creative wedding vendors. The beauty you guys produce never ceases to amaze me!
I will never say never but it’s extremely doubtful that I will ever come back to cake in the future. Though I may pop up on here from time to time, for the moment the oven is definitely off, the order books firmly closed and my focus will be on my main position and my growing family.

Resharing one of my last and favourite ever wedding cake creations for Lizzie, Dale (& Winnie) Photo’s by
Heartbroken.
Thank you little wolf for choosing us to be your family.
We will love and miss you always.
While having a play with these bones and blooms this afternoon I have also decided to have a little sale throughout November of our oyster and clam shell gifts.
Oysters will be discounted by 50% and Clam shells by 25% so it could be a great chance to get a few Christmas bits!
Take a look here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheSugaredRose
Happy Halloween!

Our little Arwen is a week old today! She truly completes our family, we have never known or felt such love. Our little miss kept us waiting but finally arrived last weekend on Saturday 27th August. We are bias but she is by far and away the best TSR creation ever made. ❤
SHORT: I'm currently baking my last TSR creation before taking a break from cakes for the foreseeable future, so this one is extra, extra special!
LONG: In truth this decision to stop cakes has been coming for a while but life has a way of throwing unexpected blessings your way to help move things along.
Mr Sugared Rose and I are over the moon to report we are expecting our first child. This is something we didn't think was going to ever happen for us and we can't wait to meet her in a very, very short amount of time!

How pretty are these photos by of our handpainted wedding cake for L&D back in May!
Love seeing professional photos especially when this cake traveled all the way to Scotland and was set up by the super talented Bride .
I have a soft spot for the little cutie on the side too!

A buttercream creation with pressed edible flowers from . Flavours were Lemon Drizzle and Cherry Bakewell.
Gorgeous venue just look at that mural! Congratulations again guys. It was so lovely to see you both (looking stunning) on the day. That was a massive treat as it doesn't happen often!
Last one from this cake I promise! A little close up and some snaps of the beautiful yurts.
As a couple pics sent to me by one of the guests of the gorgeous flowers close up and the cake cutting.
Today a few photos from the set up for E&A who finally celebrated their marriage last week with a beautiful colour filled ceremony and reception.
They opted for a colourful buttercream wedding cake creation with coffee drizzle, ginger and orange drizzle tiers.
A very different cake for me but the colours were just fab and as it's getting to the last few cakes for me this year, it's been lovely doing something a bit different.
Some more work in progress photos for L&D who married this week. Huge congratulations guys and also massive props for getting the cake to Scotland. I was so impressed with your cool box/cake safe creation! I want one!
With loads going on here I am so behind on photos of recent cakes, while I'm sorting those out here is a little snap of some work in progress pretty decoration from the other week. Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend!
A couple of snaps (with a reluctant Mr Sugared Rose as cake model) of this weekends little birthday cake. A navy, gold leaf and cake pop creation that was a bit of fun for my first customer order in a while.
Hey, it's been a while I know seeing as my last post was in January!!
I'm still here just lots going on behind the scenes, lots going on with the day job and I have been taking a little planned break from cakes while we have some work completed.
Things are still crazy busy so I still may not pop up here too often but thankfully we are now past the bare brick and dust everywhere stage. Hopefully soon we will have some boring renovation snaps and more info to share but in the meantime here's the very first blooms out of the garden which are helping to brighten my day.
Hope you are all having a lovely one?
A few photos from the cake created for C & A. All handpainted with a few little 2d elements too. Such a joy to create such a unique cake for a brilliant couple. Each place/element painted has special meaning for them and I just love how colourful it turned out.
Photos a bit on the dark side so apologies as the cake needed to be set up and moved after.
Well it's been a while but last weekend was the first cake of 2022 and what a treat it was for me to complete! So much painting!
Here are a couple of in progress shots that I managed to take, as I am still sorting the photos from the set up for C & A.
Apologies these are late! I thought I posted them when I hadn't. Anyway here are a few more photos of my last cake of 2021 which was this very lovely handpainted wedding cake for E&W who celebrated their marriage on the 19th December. This was such a lovely way to finish the year!
Finally getting to the photos from my last wedding of 2021. This wild flower cake was for the lovely Will and Ellie.
Congratulations guys! I'll post some better pics later once I've gone through everything.
P.S. how awesome is the venue!
One very last share of this cake and to say I am now signing off for a few days. I do have a few photos from a wedding cake from last weekend I still need to sort out but have run out of time today. Have a really wonderful Christmas everyone!
