ETHAN’S MOVING ANIMATION ON GRANDAD’S COVID BATTLE

NWRC Art & Design student Ethan Deery has created this moving animation project detailing his grandad, Neil McCafferty’s, battle with Covid-19.

Ethan (18), who is studying the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma at our Strand Road Campus said he wanted to make an animation that reflected not only his grandfather Neil McCafferty’s stay in hospital, but also how difficult it was for his family not to visit him.

His animation will now be showcased as part of NWRC’s end of year showcase by the Art and Design department at www.nwrc.ac.uk (details to be released later).

Trying a few different styles recently and done this sketch style illustration of my wee cousin Jacob which I thought came out well. If anyone would be interested in something similar either colour or black and white send me a wee message 😄

Talented Derry artist Ethan Deery creates tribute to Western Trust staff who cared for grandfather Neil McCafferty during miraculous COVID-19 battle COVID-19 survivor Neil McCafferty is extremely proud of his grandson Ethan Deery who has created a number of original art works in appreciation of the local health service.

This is a recent illustration I done for a client who wanted it as a present for her daughter who is a front line doctor in University hospital Limerick.

I was told she is very shy and normally stays in the background but as someone who works tirelessly and without complaint to help care for others she definitely deserves to be recognised.

I included some landmarks of Limerick where she lives and also featured some of her colleagues at the hospital.

This Illustration is on behalf of my Granda, and is dedicated to all the doctors and nurses at Altnagelvin and Waterside hospital. This is to acknowledge the amazing work of the doctors and nurses of the NHS during this pandemic. They have been stretched to the limit, they have selflessly put themselves at risk, and never stopped caring and fighting to save our loved ones.

Unfortunately, this virus has taken too many people and turned the lives of so many families upside down. The doctors and nurse's see this first hand and the pain they experience witnessing this over and over and over must be horrendous.

But they push on, they work tirelessly to help and without their immense effort it is unimaginable to think how much worse it would be.

I personally am forever thankful to the doctors and nurses of Althnagelvin and Waterside Hospital who saved the life of my Granda, even when hope was all but lost they never stopped fighting to keep him alive. Yesterday he came home after 4 months fighting for his life and its all thanks to those doctors and nurses. 🙏

Spent the day working on this piece of the legend himself John Lennon. Love how these coloured pieces are turning out at the minute.

Decided to try something different over the past few days using a bit more colour. Here is an illustration of the Guildhall in Derry. Enjoyed this one and pretty happy with how it turned out😁
