Massive massive shout out to Philip Middleton and crew! They have dropped off all supplies in Poland to be taken to the needy of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and are just about to set off on their journey home. What wonderful people you are. We already have more donations for the next trip. The weather is awful out there with lots of heavy snow ❄️ important donations are warm clothes, hats & gloves, foil blankets, sleeping bags, first aid kits, medicines. Drop off point still at the Horse & Harrow for another trip next week. Please also label any bags with the following:-

This makes it much easier to go through all of the borders to help everyone.

Fully booked yesterday for food… everyone was pleased with their Sunday roast apart from one couple… booked in for 1pm, arrived but wasn’t ready to eat and would like a drink first and to sit in the garden. This was accommodated. When ready we showed them to their table, they didn’t want to sit there and chose another table where a lady was sat and she kindly moved for them. They placed their order of 1 lamb, 1 beef… after a few minutes the waiter/barman came to the kitchen with a complaint. The veg was too undercooked & the beef was too beefy!!! I offered to replace to which they said yes and then said don’t bother. I apologised profusely and told them their meal was on the house (they managed to eat a good way through it) then refused to even pay for their drinks! Which I assume they enjoyed as they didn’t leave any of that! Thanks for coming and hopefully we’ll never see you again! Oh and by the way my other customers were disgusted by your rudeness and thanks for your review on google reviews. As this last year hasn’t been hard enough!!!

Due to the weather and forecast over the weekend we are taking the opportunity to get the inside of the pub ready for opening Monday so will be unfortunately closed until 12 o’clock Monday lunchtime. We look forward to seeing you in a nice warm pub next week. Thank you for everyone’s continued support 🙏
