In celebration of Pentecost, please can children come to school dressed in their own clothes on Friday 24th May. Children are encouraged to wear their own national costume that celebrates their own culture.
Children are also welcome to bring food or snacks to share with their class which celebrates their culture or a chosen culture. Food cannot be heated for this event and therefore will need to be eaten cold. Please note that we are a nut free school
CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF THE PENTECOST.
AT ST. FINBARR’S – 26TH MAY- AFTER THE 11:15AM MASS.
Pentecost is the birthday of the universal church and has special meaning for us as a Spiritan parish in Dover and Aylesham. The celebration will commence with Mass and be followed by a parish social celebrating the diversity of our parish family. Please join in and come dressed in your national costume, and bring some food to share, ideally reflecting your cultural heritage. Regardless of what you wear, or what you bring to eat, the most important thing is to bring yourself and your family and join in the celebration.
Some recent pictures of our talented rock stars performing at their i-Rock concert.
They were amazing 🤩🎤🎼🎸🥁

It was a pleasure to warmly welcome Canon Victor Darlington and Angela Cox to St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Aylesham, their first visit to the school. Accompanied by the local parish priest, Father Leo, they enjoyed a tour of the school, meeting staff and pupils who were keen to share their learning (and many high-fives with Father Leo!) Canon Victor spoke of the 'good vibes' in the school and recognised the close relationship between the school and parish and its feeling of community.
Both him and Angela thanked staff for all the wonderful work being done in the school.
Some truly wonderful Easter gardens and decorated eggs/hats have been brought in to school today

World Book Day 2024
Amazing effort parents/carers - they all look fab!
Dear parents and carers,
World Book Day takes place on Thursday 7 March and we hope you’ll join us to celebrate across the school.
We are celebrating World Book Day this year in school because we support the charity's mission to change lives through a love of books and reading. Dressing up or bringing books into school is a big part of World Book Day celebrations, and is something that children and families particularly enjoy. We are inviting children to dress up this World Book Day as it’s an exciting way for children to get book recommendations from each other.
The book choice is key – even if it’s just a prop or a clue make sure your child is recommending something to read with their costume.
We are aware that the cost of living crisis might make this difficult for some families, we encourage you to use things you already have at home to make a creative costume
Getting a free £1 book for your child is easy – simply take your £1 book token to your nearest bookseller and swap it for a World Book Day £1 book OR use it to get £1 off any ANY book or audiobook costing £2.99 or more.
You can find your nearest bookseller worldbookday.com/participating-retailers.
This is a chance for you to become familiar with the books in school too. Check out the World Book Day Family Hub for more things to do at home.
We’re very much looking forward to celebrating World Book Day, which could not happen without the support of parents and carers – thank you.
Reminder
Non uniform day tomorrow!
