The wellbeing and support of informal caregivers looking after individuals with dementia is a significant concern in health and social care.

In Northern Ireland, the number of informal caregivers is growing, and they play a crucial role in helping people with dementia remain in their communities.

When informal caregivers are well-supported, they can provide better care for their loves ones and experience improved well-being themselves.

To address this need, we are pleased to introduce our new Short Break Service.

This service is designed to offer respite for those caring for a family member living with dementia, giving them the opportunity to take a much-needed break.

Our Short Break Service will primarily be provided in the service user's home and will include Enhanced Befriending and Night Sitting activities, along with domiciliary personal care. This ensures caregivers can relax, knowing their loved ones are being well cared for in a familiar environment.
