After a year full of some highs, but quite a few lows, it was very eventful, but successful!

Glyn Memorial Stages 2023

Where do I even start?

I had been looking forward to Anglesey all season, being a proper race track, with night stages it was always going to be my favourite event 😁

We headed down on thursday, scrutineered on Friday, and then ready and set to start at 12 on saturday. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

SS1+2 were brilliant, setting 3rd and 4th fastest times out of 27, me Charlie Mathewson Rallying, Rhys Jones Rallying and Jack Birch times were only 1 second apart, and looked like it was going to be a really competitive event.

This however was until stage 4, where the brake pedal started going solid, and coming into a tight gravel hairpin, it was rock solid, and I locked up, turned in way too late, and ended up on top of tyres and got stuck for over a minute 🙈

I knew straight away this blew our chances of a possible top 5, but we decided to keep going full attack to try and pull back some time😅

This however... was stopped when in Stage 5+6 in the dark, i had completely no brakes, i found out this when i went towards a chicane down a rather big hill, and had to avoid it 😲

Losing another 20-30 seconds becuase of this, things just got a whole lot harder. The problem with the brakes being a burst brake cylinder. We decided just to push on through the remaining 2 night stages, and go full push on sunday to try and claw back our time.

Never more than 3 seconds out from Top 5 times all day on Sunday, especially against some really quick and experienced competition, I will definitely take this as a positive from the weekend. ✅

After our problems, we managed to close a 41 second gap, down to 19, and only having 6, 3 mile stages, We will definitely take that. 😁

Overall a brillaint weekend full of learning, and i'm delighted to have put in some really competitive times early on saturday, saturday night and all day sunday. 🦾

Congratulations to Charlie Mathewson on the English title 👍

And Well done to Lauchlan Hunter on winning first Novice this weekend, we had a great battle all year 🦾

Glyn Memorial Stages 2023 ✅😅

Scottish J1000 Novice Champion ✅🏆🏆

My most eventful weekend yet, from setting 3rd fastest times, to being on top of tyres for 1 and a half minutes, to setting a good time, and then to having no brakes at all in the dark and losing another 35+ seconds, it was definitely an experience, but lots of positives taken from the weekend.

Finished 9th o/a, 6th Scottish Junior, 2nd Novice.

Day 1 ✅🙈

Very eventful day here at Anglesey Circuit...

From being 3rd fastest on Stage 1, sitting 4th o/a out of 27😆

Stage 3 however, the brake pedal went solid coming into a gravel hairpin, the front wheels locked up and we went straight on, tried to turn in but it was way too tight, and we got stuck on a rather large tractor tyre 🙈🙈.Lost around 1.5 mins, but we got it going to tried not to lose too much time..

Stages 4,5,6 we went from solid brakes, to no brakes at all for 5+6, which in the dark was terrifying, dropping another 35+ seconds 🤪.

Stages 7+8 we got a clear run through and gained back time, and valuable experience in the dark!!

We sit 10th o/a overnight, we sit 6th scottish crew, and we plan to go full attack tomorrow to try and claw some time back for the last event in 2023 😃🦾

It's the final rally week of 2023..

This week we head to Anglesey, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 for the final round of the 2023 J1000 Ecosse Challenge 🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We head down on Wednesday, Scruitneering on Friday evening, and stages all day Saturday and Sunday, and night stages on Saturday night!

Seeded 6th out of 31 Juniors! And Seeded 3rd Scottish Junior Its going to be a massive weekend of learning but we are really looking forward to it 🦾

We are hoping to carry our pace from Crail into Anglesey this weekend 🚗

DIGB Barlow Junior Stages 🥉

On Saturday we were at Crail Raceway for the Kingdom Junior Stages. After a good result at Kinloss, we had hoped to carry the momentum onto Crail, and we did just that 😎

Seeded 5th out of 20, and with a wet rain forecast, it would be an interesting day, with a plan to push hard👌🏻

SS1 was very wet with lots of standing water, we got round getting used to the conditions quickly, setting 3rd fastest time on SS1. We went for it again in SS2 going 18 seconds faster. Sitting Joint 3rd o/a after 2 stages 🦾

SS3 was even more wet, but we went well, setting 3rd fastest time again, and pushing on in SS4, saw us take 15 seconds out of our SS3 time, saw us stay at 3rd 🦾

SS5, we had 15 seconds behind us to 4th, and we decided not to back off, or push any harder. Setting a great time, and getting the car back with no uneeded risk. 🙌

After a few nervous minutes after the stage end, the results were in, and we had achieved our first
podium 🙌🙌

To finally finish on the podium feels amazing, especially after our luck this year 😁👌🏻

Digby Barlow Junior Stages Rally 2023 - Seeded Entry List

Autosave Components Kinloss Autumn Stages..

On friday evening we headed 3 hours up the road to Kinloss Barracks near Elgin, for round 7 of the Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge . Got a cycle round and the car scrutineered and we were ready to get going at 8:33 on saturday morning 👌🏻

SS1 & 2, with none of the drivers having done the event before, it would make to be a very competitive day, especially on the first 2 stages. We went out on and the first stage and pushed from the start, setting a great time for SS1 5 seconds from 3rd place, 4th after 2 stages 🙌

SS3&4, were another good run through, minus a good bit of confusing of where the route went, losing some time to 5th and 6th, but we made it back up on SS4 ⛽️

SS5&6, we're good runs through, SS5 being probably one of the smoothest and faultless stages i've ever done, so i was happy with that 😃. Going into SS6, we had a 16 Second Gap to 5th, and decided to back off slightly to secure 4th 🤞.

4th and 1st novice secured it was an amazing day 🏆👌🏻

And the car ran faultlessly all day, for once! 😉

This weekend we head to Kinloss, for the Autosave Components Scotland Kinloss Rally ⛽️

After a not so successful test at crail with a broken gearbox, we are ready to get going on saturday ✅

Afton Glen Meats Galston Kames Summer Stages 2023...

After a great training day on saturday, and the car feeling good, and some good feedback from the instructors, we had thought it was going to be a good day for once at kames, but no...

After the first 2 stages, we felt we were on the limit straight away, but the car was lacking straight line speed, just like sunday at mach1, we then went to check the times, and we were right, 9th O/A.

It was the same all day, with no pull out of corners or in second or third gear, so we pushed as hard as we could, setting what we thought would have been fast times if the car had straight line speed🥲

We tried everything to fix it, and go faster, but nothing worked, A great day nonetheless, and lots of fun had , finished 8th o/a after the car problems all day, wasn't too bad..👌🏻
