This Friday marks the end of Unite’s first week of strike action. Please join with strikers on Friday at 12 to hear from speakers about why our campaign matters to all Dundonians.

Our next set of all out action has been announced!! 25th and 26th October. We urge University of Dundee to get back around the table with us and discuss a DB scheme which does not leave hundreds of staff members in pension poverty!!

There's an organising meeting happening today at Capone's on Nethergate at 11:30am!! This is to discuss next steps for the pensions action. Please come if you're able!!!

Come and show your support on Monday! Iain Gillespie is going to be there at 9:30 and we need to show him that students won't stand for this!

We're also going to be at the picket line outside the Tower Building from 8:30!

This is amazing news!

🎊🎉 WE WON THE BURSARY 🎊🎉

We did it. After a year of campaiging we have won the bursary for student parmedics in Scotland. The difference this will make to the lives of hundreds is gigantic. The pressures of food poverty, worrying about rent and mental health will all be eased.

This bursary was won because student paramedics came together to fight against an obvious injustice. So first of all we want to thank every single student paramedic in Scotland who got involved and helped build, run and now WIN this campaign. When we believe in each other and the power we have together, there is nothing we can't achieve.

Some initial details are that the new paramedic bursary will fully replicate the funding arrangements of the current bursary offered to Nursing and Midwifery students. It will also start in time for the 2021 academic year!

It couldn't have happened though without the support of so many other people. Politicians like Liam McArthur MSP, Alison Johnstone, Monica Lennon and Anas Sarwar who pushed this in Parliament. Our fellow ambulance staff in UNISON, Unite the union and GMB Scotland for their years of experience and guidance. Matt Crilly and the staff from NUS Scotland. All the lecturers, the Royal College of Nursing, the College of Paramedics and so many more!

We will keep you updated as this is rolled out and the campaign doesn't stop until the first payment drops!

We've had quite a lot of interest in the zine that hasn't been followed up! If you're thinking of submitting something but haven't been able to make the deadline can you please DM us and we can work something out! Your fellow students need to hear your voice!!

Yesterday we were at the demo for Palestine! Somebody actually sent us an email asking what this has to do with the group as we're, essentially, for helping students with their issues and I thought this was a really good question. This is what we said in response:
Of course the Pro-Palestine Rally isn't directly related to issues facing students. However, we think it is important to show solidarity with other movements in the city and elsewhere. This is partly because our oppressors, i.e. the elite classes, are also oppressing Palestinians. This is especially since the university is complicit with the situation by investing in companies which provide arms to Israel. It is also so that, in future, other movements will hopefully show solidarity with us. If you have any further questions about this please always feel free to get in touch!

Over 100 expected at Dundee pro-Palestine protest this weekend - Evening Telegraph Pro-Palestinian protestors will take to the streets of Dundee again this weekend amid the ongoing conflict which has left over 200 dead.

On Being Used: A Strike Zine A zine compiled on the picket line, for the picket line, On Being Used takes its cue from the slogan 'FAIR CHER' created by Colin Herd and Sophie Collins during the UCU industrial action from 25th Nov-4th December 2019. Comprising poems and memes of protest, dissent, sass, complaint, office, musings...

We're putting together a protest zine based around the theme 'Expectations and Visions' to express our anger and frustration over the past year at university. We are looking for poems, stories, personal essays and visual art depicting the experiences of students in Dundee.

What you can submit:
Up to 400 words of prose
Up to 20 lines of poetry
A4 page for visual art, comic strips, etc.
Final pieces, drafts or briefs should be submitted by 29th May

If you don't feel able to submit something but still want your voice heard, get in touch and our editors and designers will help create something!

Remember that you have so much power to stand up for the things you believe in and make real change! We've got some things coming up and there'll be opportunities to get involved with student activism so keep an eye out!!
