With only 4days until our new term starts, availability for toddlers is very limited!!

When you sign up to our classes, it’s not only an opportunity to ‘just’ develop racquet skills 🙅🏼‍♀️
Your wee one will also:
👫develop social skills and work with others while making new friends,
🏃🏼‍♂️‍➡️🏃🏿‍♀️‍➡️ develop transferable motor skills that are needed for the vast majority of activities,
✋🏻👀 improve hand-eye coordination,
👂🏻 develop listening skills,
🫡 begin to follow simple instructions,
🎈know the basics of sending and receiving skills, required for both badminton and tennis,
🤩🥰 most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

There is also the option of having their own Racquet Buddies kit, and every Buddy has their own sticker reward chart for the end of every lesson, bringing focus and excitement of reaching the star on the chart and being rewarded with a special star transfer for their tshirt ☺️ All of this adds to the overall ethos of the Racquet Buddies community, and gives your wee one a sense of pride and belonging 🫶🏻

Inside at Menzieshill for today’s camp, and the kids were absolutely fantastic switching up to play some badminton this morning, and with a choice of tennis 🎾 or badminton 🏸 this afternoon….along with some dancing from the girls 💃🏼💁🏼‍♀️🤣
They also enjoyed some colouring during a chilled lunch break….as did Kirrin, Zoe and I 🙄🥴🤣

We finished just before the rain came today 🤗 The kids worked on both forehand and backhand ground strokes in our morning session before heading to the park after lunch again 🥰
Then back up to the courts for some team relays and games, although some of the kids got a wee bit tired by the end and ended up doing some magic tricks with the cones and balls 🙄🤣

Another great wee day, but heading indoors tomorrow as it looks a bit of a washout 🤦🏼‍♀️

• have fun while also having quality 1-2-1 time with their adult during our structured games and activities 🥰

It wasn’t all work and no play today though as we headed down to the playpark after lunch - the kids had a great time 🥰

What a day to start week 2 of our summer camps 🥳☀️ (even though the weather won’t last 🥴🤦🏼‍♀️)

The kids were outstanding today and considering most of them hadn’t picked up a tennis racquet before, they did so well with our practices to work on forehands 🎾 as well as some passing when we got the footballs out ⚽️
The kids definitely had a preference though as they were keen to get back on the courts for the last part of the day 👌🏻

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow 🥰

We still have a couple of spaces for our second week of Summer Camp, starting on Monday 8th July, so if you’d like your children returned like this 👇🏻 next Friday, then hit me up and get them booked in 🤣

In all seriousness, we had so much fun last week doing tennis, badminton, football, and also with some other activities thrown in due to the weather, so if you’re looking for your wee one to be occupied next week, then either send a message to the page or email [email protected].

The kids have been an absolute pleasure to have all week, and they’ve coped so well with all the changes we’ve had due to the weather - an absolute credit to all their big people 🥰

As our term came to a slight premature end, I wanted to pop on with a wee personal message to the parents of our classes….

The past 6months have been the toughest of my life. The biggest and most difficult thing to come to terms with, as most of you know, has been losing my brother at the age of 43 in January, the day after I turned 40. Losing Mike was horrendous at the time, and still it hits hard on quite a regular basis, and especially for his children, his wife and my parents. Being able to be there for them through this time and also moving forward has taken priority, and will continue to do so but having your understanding throughout has been actually quite overwhelming. The support and compassion shown over the past 6months can get me quite emotional, as it’s doing while I’m typing this post, and you’ll never fully understand how much it’s meant to me. The kids have also coped so well with classes being covered by others and sometimes cancelled, while your continued understanding of that is appreciated more than I can ever explain.
At the same time, I have an ‘extension’ happening at my house to move my parents in, helping to support them as they live and cope with my dad’s progressing MS - I say ‘extension’ because the only thing that’s stayed the same is the front wall of the house, it’s pretty much an entire new build. My dad’s condition has been the cause of a few cancelled classes too as I try my best to support not just him, but my mum in caring for him.
In this time I’ve also launched another business, CurricuLink, and while I’ve recently felt like it’s maybe a step too far, I finally managed a breakthrough last week when it was subscribed to by at least one school in Dundee.

As you can see there’s been a lot for me to deal with personally, as well as trying to be a decent mum to my own kids, but all we can do is our best in moving forward the best we can, looking forward to some positives which there are lots of, and reasons to be positive. Your continued support in bringing your kids to us means the world, and gives me the best job I could wish for - without your support over the past 6months especially when things haven’t run as smoothly, Racquet Buddies likely wouldn’t still exist and while I’m always thankful, I’ve never been more grateful than I am right now to have such supportive and caring people whose children I’m fortunate enough to work with every week.

Here’s to the next 6months being more positive and hopefully the attached picture which was taken last night (no, not after a few drinks 🙄🤥) is a visual representation of how the rest of 2024 will go 🤞🏻

• have opportunities to work with other children,
• increase in confidence as they learn and success is celebrated,
• develop gross motor skills through a huge range of activities,
• be able to have quality one-to-one time with their adult who participates fully in our toddlers, through structured activities,
• be able to feel the positives of taking part in sport, including physical and mental health benefits.
