The Botanic Garden will be open to the public, free of charge, between the 11th ā 16th October during Festival of The Future. Welcome to the 4th edition of Festival of the Future from the University of Dundee! We are looking forward to welcoming you to our live, in-person events this year, all of which we designed with the purpose to celebrate being together again and connect with nature. Join us to experience the tranquil and natural spaces of Dundee through walks, talks, workshops, exhibitions, and performances, ranging from forest bathing and building your own mini garden to a promenade performance experience with sound, installation, projection, and light amongst the calmness of nature at Dundeeās Botanic Garden.

The University's annual Carols by Candlelight service will take place on Sunday 12 December, 5pm in St Paul's Cathedral. With the University choir leading the carols it's a great occasion for our community to come together and celebrate the festivities. James H Cone is considered to be the founder of Black liberation theology. We'll be talking about the legacy he left following his death in 2018, what he did for racial equality as well as exploring the role religion plays within Black communities on Wed 27 Oct. Register at https://buff.ly/3lQArTd
Our fourth and final COP26 Series event takes place on Thursday 28 October at 14.00. During this event you'll hear from four people who are connecting the power of the visual arts to enhance our understanding of climate change. Dr Kieran Baxter, one of our Academics from DJCAD, will discuss creative approaches to landscape visualisation with examples from his work in Southeast Iceland; his stark images and film of glacier recession reveals the extent of the unfolding climate crisis year by year. There is growing concern that creative subjects such as art, music, and drama are being side-lined in schools in favour of other subjects. However, creative education is also seen as a crucial step in developing skills in young children.
