We are pleased to announce another speaker to our schedule, Patrick Bond, who will be delivering a talk on the Saturday. His talk is titled:
'Trends in Deglobalisation and Degrowth that Economists Should Embrace, Not Duck'
Bond is a Professor of Political Economy at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Governance, in Johannesburg. His focus is on the political economy, environment, social politics and geopolitics. Bond has completed various pieces of research surrounding Africa and its economy.

We are pleased to announce our fifth speaker to our schedule, Carlos Lopes, who will be delivering a talk on the Saturday.
Lopes is a Professor at the Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town and member of the African Union reform team and Global Commission for Economy and Climate. His work as a Development Economist will bring a great insight into the practice of growth and expansion in the field of economics.

‘An Econometrics Project'
RES is a professional association which promotes the study of economic science in academia, banking and public affairs. They have over 4,000 members globally and are one of the oldest economic associations in the world. The society aims to enhance credibility and visibility of economics by improving diversity and working effectively.

"The Geography of Globalisation's Winners and Losers"
Rory Horner is a Senior Lecturer in Globalisation and Political Economy at University of Manchester. His research involves the changing geographies of global development, focussing on South-South trade and the Pharmaceutical industry. Horner’s work centres around the political economy of globalization, industrial development, trade, specifically in the regions of India and Africa.
This adds to what is becoming a very exciting Saturday of the Conference.

IEA Hayek Lecture – Bryan Caplan on “Poverty, who’s to blame?”:
The Institute of Economic Affairs is delighted to announce that acclaimed US author Professor Bryan Caplan will give our 2019 Hayek Memorial Lecture on the 3rd December 2019. The acclaimed author of 'The Myth of the Rational War' will unveil his latest pertinent topic of poverty and why we have not yet eliminated it "POVERTY - Who's to blame?'
Monetary Policy Essay Prize
We have also launched this year’s Monetary Policy Essay Prize. There’s a top prize of £1,000 and all that’s required to enter is a 2,500 word essay! As it’s a relatively new competition, we encourage entrants as there is high chances of making the final.

If they’re looking for a more traditional internship, we’re currently accepting general internship applications for Q1 2020. If they’re interested in our Summer Internships (more of a Summer School crossed with an internship) apply by 27th March.
