Happy New Year!

Little bit of a hiccup in our reopening date.

Fruit and Veg markets aren't actually open, so instead of standing in an empty shop we thought we'd just open on Tues 5 instead. 🍐🍊🍎🥦🥕🥑

That's a wrap for 2020

We would like to thank our customers for their patience, support and community spirit this year.

The Perth road has really powered through this year and it's been great to see a return to local shopping. However we are all gubbed so we will be taking a wee break until Jan 4.

Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year and once again thank you.

Just a quick reminder that from Friday 10 July it will be mandatory to wear face coverings in shops.

Everyone is asked to comply with the new rule, with the exception of children under the age of five and those with certain medical conditions.

We will not allow customers in to the shop without wearing face coverings so please remember to think ahead if you are going out shopping.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as always.

We are back open Mon - Sat 10-4, working hard to provide you with amazing local produce like these beautiful Strawberries from Newport 🍓

Thanks to everyone for being so patient in the shop and outside in the queue 🙏

12 weeks ago, we put out a post with a view for the future of the shop during the pandemic. We wanted to be able to keep our shop open, continue to have a steady supply of produce and hoped that there would be a reconnect with a sense of community. I think we can safely say that we have seen all of these hopes come to fruition.

Our staff have worked really hard, taken on extra roles and extra hours to keep the shop up and running, some have managed to get a First Class degree at the same time.
Our suppliers have been brilliant, keeping us up to date with brilliant produce and never missing a beat.
Our customers have been incredible, their patience, good humour, generosity and sense of community has been breathtaking.

Our home delivery service managed to make up and deliver 1750 deliveries with the incredible help of local volunteers, 71 Brewing and Lynn, our resident veg box mastermind. These boxes managed to raise over £2200 for local food banks so once again we just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone involved. Michael from the food bank sent a lovely email to say thanks and how delighted they were with all of the fresh produce they received. It has allowed them to make up soup bags and put in recipe cards to go along with the fruit and veg.

Friday however was the last day of our delivery service but the shop will be open Mon - Sat 10 - 4 until further notice and we are allowing 2 customers in at a time. We hope that customers continue to show a brilliant attitude in difficult circumstances and please know that we truly appreciate it.

Virtual hugs to all

We are open Tues - Sat 10 - 4 and have the incredible Wild Hearth Bakery bread delivered on Tues, Thu, Fri and Sat...maybe even a few pastries on a Friday too. 😉🥖🍞🥐

03/04/2020

Amazing amazing work from all the customers, volunteers, suppliers and staff this week.
We managed to make up and deliver 250 boxes this week. 🥦🍐🍉
However this means we have a backlog of admin to do and are going to close this Monday and Tuesday to prepare for next week's orders. 😴😴😴
If you would like to enquire about veg boxes please please please email [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Try not to message us as it takes us ages to get back to everyone.
Thanks again, that's over £400 raised for local foodbanks via your orders. 💪💪💪

24/03/2020

Thanks again for all of the responses and interest on veg boxes. We are going to have to put a hold on any new orders coming in after 12 today so we can get a plan in place for delivery schedules.

We are staying open 10-4 for the meantime and limiting our shop to 2 customers at a time.

Everything is moving so quickly at the moment and we are trying our best to keep up with the demand and also ensuring customer and staff safety.

23/03/2020

Hi guys, massive demand on the boxes at the moment, trying to get back to everyone via email today.
Bear with us 🙏🙏🙏

22/03/2020

Our Fruit and Vegetable delivery scheme is now up and running for anyone in need of fresh produce delivered straight to their door.

The demand for these far outweighs the time needed to figure out all of the moving parts so bear with us as we move forward.

Our aim in to deliver on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and drop to front or back doors to minimise any risk. Our first orders will be this coming Wednesday.

We are going to be helped out by the selfless legends at 71 Brewing, a team of amazing volunteers and just see how it evolves over the next few days, weeks and months.

We have 3 separate options;
£10 box
£15 box
£20 box

We will also be charging a £1 delivery fee and donating this fee directly to food banks across the local area.

For more information on the box contents, payments or to order your first box, please email [email protected]

Let's look after our neighbours, friends and community.

20/03/2020

Hello amazing customers of FFV, we have been overwhelmed by the support we've received this week. It has been testing for everyone but our staff have been working incredibly hard to keep shelves stacked and customers safe and happy. I nipped to a supermarket last night and it was incredible to see the empty shelves, it makes me worry about those people who find it hard to access larger stores and just don't have the support network in place to help them.

With this in mind we will be spending this weekend figuring out a plan to keep serving our customers, especially those vulnerable people who are in need. This will involve volunteers, delivery schemes and lots of patience so please bear with us while we get a structure into place.

Thanks again for this past week, there has been no tension or ill will in the shop, no stock piling, just a great community spirit and willingness to help each other out.

A wee update.

Obviously we are dealing with a unprecedented situation so we just wanted to give you a update on our thoughts, as so many local businesses have.

We are striving to stay open and continue to deliver our community and customers with a well stocked shop. We have spoken to suppliers, who are positive about the supply chain of fresh produce and we will continue to update our social media pages as we move forward.

On a separate and maybe more personal note I feel like there has been a growing disconnect with the sense of "community". Not only looking out for neighbours but also even knowing them at all.

These trying times which we face are an opportunity to change this, pop a letter to a neighbour and see if you can help, pick up the phone and connect to someone who might be isolated. These tiny acts of kindness could make a massive difference to people's lives.
