Our Garden Project volunteers are very involved, working hard to grow organic produce. This is then sold to cater for tools or seeds required for the garden, or the produce is used in our lunch club meals!

Fancy trying something new? We are pleased to announce that our dance classes are now open. Come and join our dance group on Thursday at 19:30.

19/12/2021

We are sad to announce that our founder member and director, Mr Jyoti Prakash Hazra, MBE, Videsh Samman, passed away on the 17th of December 2021.

He was an integral part of the community and without him our Centre would never have existed. Along with a few friends, he started the Bharatiya Ashram with a small lunch club for ethnic minority elderly people. He pictured a vision where elderly people from various communities could meet, have lunch, and speak to each other in their own languages without being judged or secluded. He then wanted to build on this and create an educational and cultural centre where everyone could learn something new and practice arts from their culture. He finally achieved his dream by applying and receiving several grants and he built the Dudhope Multicultural Centre. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful place where people from a variety of backgrounds meet, laugh, learn and eat together without feeling judged. He worked tirelessly with passion for as long as he could, until his illness, very recently.

His passing is a huge loss for the community and we miss him immensely. 🙏
