Happy Friday ๐
On Sunday afternoon the rain was non stop. These lovely ladies came a little early for the The Selkie Dundee brunch. So we brought them into Edna Mae Bakehouse to keep warm and dry. I entertained them with magic while they waited. It was a really lovely moment ๐๐ฉ๐ช
This is what magic is all about. Wonder, laughter and good times with friends at

Under the Spotlight: Billy Morris
Today we talk with the one and only DJ Billy Morris.
Question 1: Tell us what you do?
Iโm primarily a club and festival DJ but in the last few years Iโve started to play at more commercial events such as at The Selkie Dundee Fabulous Dubai Brunches, where Iโm lucky enough to work with you.
Question 2: What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing is being able to play the music I love and see peopleโs reaction to that and to make them dance and have fun, and then get paid for something I would do for free anyway.
Question 3: If animals could speak which do you think would be the funniest?
As an owner (flat mate) of 3 cats, it would have to be that. Cats just donโt give a s**t about anyone or anything, their sole purpose is to eat, sleep and play, and I can relate to that. Hearing the reason why theyโve just pushed your glass off the table would be funny to hear.
Question 4: What type of events do you cater for?
As I said, mainly clubs, bars and festivals but Iโve started to do the odd wedding and function lately, and brunches have got massive. I donโt play any chart music or 60s/70s etc, only dance music with some disco and dance edits, so itโs not suitable for a birthday party all night with a mixed crowd where you need some Cliff Richard for Aunty Jeanie, some One Direction for the kids and a bit of Motown for Uncle Fester but if youโre wanting a bit of feel good dance and 90s classics Iโm your man.
Question 5: Tell us something interesting about yourself?
Not many people know, Iโve been in the Army Reserve for 33 years.
Question 6: What are you most excited for in the future?
Iโve got some really big gigs lined up and Iโm just happy to still be booked to play after all these years.
I plan to keep playing until I lose the passion for it, which doesnโt seem to be happening yet.
Question 7: How can people contact you?

Find your magic ๐๐ฉ๐ช
Thanks Tony! ๐
Man, I felt old at a gig last week. After my routine a teenager said, "Wow, that was steezy".
It seemed like a compliment judging by the big smile on his face but I had no idea what it meant.
One google search later and I found it means "effortlessly stylish or elegant". I'll take that!
Stay steezy my friends ๐

Today, we put the compere without compare under the spotlight. His VW story is awesome!
Question 1: Tell us what you do?
I'm known as The Kilted Conductor. I conduct all sorts of special occasions, always in my kilt. I'm a Compere, Toastmaster, Master of Ceremonies.
I'm my clients' and their guests host, who ensures their special event is seamless and stress free. My moto is "Nothing goes wrong, things change". For me this is a very positive guide that reassures my client they are in safe hands. I am very reactive and instinctively know how to adapt to quick changes.
Question 2: What is the best thing about your job?
My passion is to ensure everyone is having a good time, no-one is left out. I get so much pleasure seeing my client and their guests are enjoying themselves and fully engaged with the event. I don't miss anyone out. Every event is fresh and exciting. No two events are the same and I meet so many fantastic people along the way.
Question 3: If animals could speak which do you think would be the funniest?
Oh, it has to be a goldfish. Why, well because, growing up with asthma, I was allergic to all furry and feathered friends and I could only ever have a goldfish as a pet. I used to speak to them all the time and it would have been hilarious for them to speak back to me and tell me they are not all called "Debbie Harry", my childhood idol.
Question 4: What type of events do you cater for?
I host virtually any event. Toastmaster at Weddings. Master of Ceremonies (MC) at large Dinners such as Award Ceremonies and Charity Fundraisers. Hosting Ladies Lunches. Hosting Music and theater events. Hosting drinks events (I have a big background in the drinks industry and host small intimate private parties to hundreds of people, exploring whiskies, rums, gins etc.
Any event I do there are always prize-winners and sometimes a bit of singing and dancing.
I also host Superhero and themed events for both children and adults. I am a very busy Santa Claus every December, Eater Bunny for, err...Easter, Bananaman for superhero events.
This Halloween, I'm hosting a Harry Potter themed evening for Adults. 'An evening with Hagrid', where my guests will be enjoing the evening with magical spirit potions (yes, the spirits are of the alcohol kind). I am fairly unique in what I do as I am very energetic and create this buzz when I'm the host.
Question 5: Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I won a car back when I was in my first year at University. A brand new VW Beetle. I was one of the few in the UK to have one as they weren't released in the UK until the following year. Mine was a left hand drive imported from The Netherlands. Most skint students would have sold it, and I was offered serious money. But I wanted to keep it. It was so cool and my family, friends and I had so much fun in it. One of my birthdays, we all piled in to see how many people we could fit in, I have a feeling it was something like 15 people. Goodness knows how we got back out.
Question 6: What are you most excited for in the future?
To celebrate my country Scotland as much as possible. I want to travel the world in my kilt and show as many nations how fantastic our country is, and celebrate everything we do.
Question 7: How can people contact you?
