💥 It was an inspiring day at 5Star as we had the current 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Scotland men’s 🏉rugby player Grant Gilchrist and Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿women’s rugby player Shona Campbell for Coaching and Q&A. Shona also plays rugby 7’s for Great Britain. 🇬🇧

💥 What came across more than anything is that even whilst playing sport at the highest level, you still have to enjoy it! Do not let the fear of making mistakes hold you back!

💥It was also clear that even playing sport at the elite level, you still have the same emotions as you do at school. It is how you manage your emotions that makes the difference between the good and the great!

🎂It’s the final day tomorrow and we always like to finish with a bang! You will be delighted to know my mum is back with her delicious cakes, along with coffees ☕️ and teas from 3:15pm. Games will KO at 3:30pm, with end of camp presentation at 4:00pm! 🏆

We can’t wait 🥳 and look Forward to welcoming you all tomorrow

What were we saying yesterday about smiles on faces….today was a day FILLED with Sport 🏉 🏑, Sunshine ☀️ and Smiles 😊

It was topped off by a visit from Frankie and his ice cream 🍦 van - it did not disappoint.

💥Tomorrow is an ATTACK focus for hockey and rugby, which is always an exciting day for all our 5Star players. It gives them the opportunity to try new skills and go out and express themselves with no fear of making mistakes.

It was a brilliant first day at the Dundee 5Star camp 🏉🏑!

💫The first day is always a bit nerve wracking but also exciting, as we hand out the new kit! 😊It gives us incredible joy to see so many smiles on faces, playing sport with their friends. After a long summer, to see all the kids back together is extremely special. There is nothing better!

What a camp at Kinross…..Can you believe that it was bright blue skies everyday! ☀️😜

The players were absolutely outstanding as always and they are a real credit. We absolutely love coming to Kinross, as it is a proper rugby club and it now has an amazing new clubhouse. More than this it has great people involved from the players to the parents and to the coaches. None more so than big Arab Robert Allan who kept our 5Star coaches well fed with ham and cheese sandwiches throughout the camp! He goes above and beyond everytime and it does not go unnoticed! 🤩

Rugby is an amazing team sport and it brings people together like no other. To see young people having great fun with their friends, doing a sport they love, for 3 full days only reinforces that! 👏🏻👏🏻

A special mention to Coach Toddy, Rosco and Keats. An incredible effort from you all and we cannot thank you enough!

It was an awesome Monday Masterclass session last night on DEFENCE. Doesn’t matter what age you are or what level you play at, there are always ways to make your tackle technique safer and more effective. This was our focus along with staying connected as a line in defence. Do these two things well and unless you are playing New Zealand, you will compete in any game! 👍💪🏻😁

There was rain again ☔️today but it did not dampen the spirits. All the players were amazing throughout and made the most of all the coaching expertise and energy, which makes it all worthwhile! 🙏

👏What an uplifting day at 5Star today! The undoubted highlight was a special appearance from McCoy aka Sabre from Gladiators. She was amazing with all the kids and her passion for sports, health and fitness really shone through ❤️

A true inspiration for all the kids and we were so lucky that Sheli took time out of her busy schedule to come and see us! Most of the players couldn’t quite believe she was actually standing in front of them but they still asked some brilliant questions 👏🏻👏🏻

All the players were amazing today in challenging conditions! 🏉🏑☔️🤩 well done I am really impressed with you positive attitude 🤩

☀️It was an amazing first of the 5Star Easter camp for our 🏑hockey and 🏉rugby players.

❤️Some of the skills on display throughout the day were a joy to watch…There was also a great energy and attitude from all the players, which also makes it a joy to coach! 🤩

I was at Murrayfield with my nephew for his first game so it was an extra special occasion! He lives in London but he is most definitely a Scotland supporter so he had the best day!

❓He asked me what it is like to play against England at Murrayfield…..the first word that came to mind was ‘privilege’…..whilst watching the fantastic spectacle as a passionate supporter, I remembered what a privilege and honour it was to play for my country.

I have the same mindset with coaching - it is a privilege to be able to try and inspire the next generation, just like the Scotland team did at Murrayfield on Saturday!

So much going on today it’s difificut to put it all in one post!

Today, we had 🥳SUPERSTAR THURSDAY
Our hockey players had an ‘audience with Charlotte Watson’ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Scotland and 🇬🇧Great Britain 🏑hockey star (also a 5Star coach this week) talk about inspiring the next generation! The photos say it all. 🥰

The 🏉rugby players also had the surprise visit from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿and British and Irish Lions 🦁rugby star Rory Sutherland. Given the preparations for the 🌎World Cup are full steam ahead we are so thankful that Rory made it along today! A special day for everyone (including the coaches who were especially on awe when they heard Rory could do a 210kg bench press! 😳) 😊

I can’t believe it is the final day tomorrow but as always we will aim to go out with a bang! 💥

‼️Parents are welcome to attend from 2:30pm.
‼️Hockey matches will start around this time and the rugby matches will start at 3pm.
They are slightly staggered to allow parents to watch each child if they have one at 🏉rugby and 🏑hockey!

👏Complimentary cakes 🍰🎂and soft drinks will be available by the glasshouse (thanks Mum! 🙏)

🚨End of camp presentation will begin at 3:45pm at Mayfield for all hockey and rugby players.🚨

🤩Another brilliant day and an added bonus the rain stayed away again! 👌There were lots of smiles 😊 on players faces as we focused on all the different ways to ATTACK and breakdown a defence. I always love seeing the players express themselves and try lots of new skills on these days 💙

This morning we also had a look at some functional movement for our younger groups and some strength and conditioning for our older groups. The functional movement of young players is an area that is so often overlooked. They have to be able to move well before even considering doing anything in the gym. Strength and Conditioning is important as much as for injury prevention as it is for developing strength and speed 👏

I cannot tell you how lovely it was to see a bit of blue sky today! 😎

An action packed Tuesday on all fronts for our hockey and rugby players today, with a focus on DEFENCE and in particular their technique. It was fantastic to see our 🏑hockey and 🏉rugby players grow in confidence, through developing their technique in the tackle. 👌

🥳Tomorrow is my favourite day of the week as we focus on all areas of ATTACK. It provides a great opportunity for our 5Star hockey and rugby players to express themselves and try things, which I always love to see!💙

😊🤩So proud of all the 5Star players and coaches today in the worst weather we have ever had! ☔️I could go into a long spiel about the resilience of the kids but in short if you want to put smiles back on their faces, get them outrageously good kit 😆 Being dry helps as well….
