Photography Journey

I class myself as an ‘amateur’ photographer and keen to learn the craft. My interest started when I wrote my doctoral thesis and had to include images to depict my subject area (work environment, creativity/innovation in the advertising sector). After this, I wrote a crime fiction novel, and writing the next in the series, and took many photographs related to the themes in the book.

From here, my interest in photography became more personal. As a writer, it is a lonely experience - day after day after day after day. Therefore, to maintain a good work-to-life balance, I bought a new camera. Previously, I relied on my mobile phone. This was certainly a turning point. My interests lie in landscapes, seascapes, nature, sunrise and sunsets. I love the isolation and remote areas of Scotland that I visit with the sole purpose of capturing nature in all its beautiful glory. Every day, I learn something new about the environment, camera settings, techniques, cropping, editing and presentation.

When I set up my photography page, I had no idea how it would work out. Fortunately, the interest, feedback and support make it all worthwhile.
