Role: Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager

Description: Kane Contracts is a young and expanding civil engineering company based in Co. Tyrone. Our works include New Build Developments, Public Realm Schemes, Renewable Energy Infrastructure, Fuel Forecourt works and various other works.

We currently have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to join our expanding team who are progressive, hard working and excited about the direction of our company.
The successful candidate will report to the company management and their responsibilities will include:
· Commercial management of projects
· Estimating and compiling tender submissions
· Measurement from drawings/specification for material quotations
· Site measurement as required
· Submission of cost variations for agreement
· Site measures and valuations on live projects
· Sub-contractor and supplier procurement
· Project costing reports
· Attending site meetings as required
The ideal candidate will have:
· A degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
· 3+ years post qualification experience in a civils background is desirable, but all levels will be considered
· A full driving licence
· A good understanding of the NEC family of contracts
· An excellent ability to measure from drawings and specification to compile quantities
· Good communication skills
· Sound IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, with measurement software experience desirable
· An excellent work ethic, and contribute as part of a team, or work on their own initiative

The role will be based at our office in Galbally, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, with occasional visits required to sites in ROI or GB. We are progressing at pace with our Harlockstown Solar Farm project in Co Meath, for our client Suir Engineering.

We are completing all civils works associated with the 88 acre solar farm; with LV trenching and STS bases to be completed by next week.

It is a pleasure to work with a great, collaborative site team on this project. We look forward to completing these works and helping in adding more green energy to the grid.

We are delighted to have completed the creation of a car park and public realm enhancement adjacent to the Maureen Sheehan Centre in Belfast for the Department for Communities.

- Surfacing, Limestone Paving and Resin bound gravel

Last night our team at our Portumna Go filling station project, for our valued client LCC Group, enjoyed a meal to celebrate 2022 and warm up for our staff party on Saturday.

Kane Contracts alongside our specialist Kane Fencing division have just completed this coal yard extension for our client LCC Group in Belfast.

240m of 5m high dust wall fencing was manufactured and installed with drainage, kerbing and over an acre of concrete laid.

Great work by the whole team!🤝

Works carried out for LCC Group:

Recent works have been completed for LCC at several of their state-of-the-art self-service filling stations, including:

- GO Carrickfergus,
- GO Great Victoria Street,
- GO Bailieborough,
- GO Yorkgate.

Full forecourt replacement was commenced with Barley Stone Larchfield 200 x 100 x 80mm brick, Aco-Channel replacement and the laying of Concrete Plinths.

Another great effort by all involved to deliver a fantastic finish around these impeccable filling stations👏

Great Effort by our team completing the maintenance works for LCC at GO Petrol station in Killea, Co Donegal. The works were carried out within 4 days keeping the petrol station operational throughout, and minimizing the disturbance to our clients business⛽

The works carried out included;

- Breaking and removal of unsatisfactory pavements

- Planing of the entrance road under full Traffic management

- Replacement of dished drainage channels and concrete plinth surround

- Regulating of the junction to create a camber, reducing surface water issues

- Relaying of Asphalt and Concrete

Recent Project:

MV substation upgrade completed for H&MV Engineering at Irish Waters Water treatment works in Navan.

We aim to provide our clients with a full package solution for the construction and delivery of large-scale solar farm developments.

Through utilizing our experienced civil engineering and fencing divisions, we have the expertise and capacity to provide our services as a “one stop shop” contractor in the construction and management of utility scale ground mount solar PV projects.

Project Completion:

Kane Contracts recently completed the Shannaghmore Dam project for the Education Authority NI in Newcastle, County Down.

The finished project has created a new facility for water ventures at the amazing facilities at Shannaghmore Outdoor Learning Centre🌞

Tree removal, downstream revetment drainage and reprofiling was commenced, upgrading the existing dam structure by laying an impermeable membrane, new concrete toe to bedrock and granite stone pitching as well as Rock Armour installed to the end of the scour outfall
