Scottish Landscape Art. Digital Collage by Cath Waters. www.cathwaters.scot Cath Waters is a Scottish landscape digital collage artist living on the Isle of Skye.
Digital collage can mean any form of collage assembled or created using a computer. Cath's process starts off on location where she takes digital photographs of the landscape. Back in the studio Cath uses a computer to blend the landscape photography with sections of additional photographs to add texture, colour and depth. These "textures" can be photographs of painting or mixed media or photograp

Everyone loves Plockton 💚 Our lampshades are handmade here in Skye from fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. We also keep a small stock of these beautiful lamp bases. They’re made by in the Scottish highlands from upcycled whisky barrels.
It always amazes me how quickly views change here, especially this time of year. These photos were taken within 20 minutes of each other on my way home today.
Couldn’t resist a quick snap of the loch as I was leaving our Dunvegan workshop today. Another beautiful autumn day.
Twice a year we add stock to our on-line seconds shop. We launched yesterday and nearly everything has gone but we do have some beautiful slight seconds ceramic coasters still so if you’re quick you can grab some. To get notified as soon as the next sale launches, sign up to my newsletter. Link in bio 😄. We also sell seconds and end of line at our Dunvegan studio year round.
My lux cushions are back in the shop and online now. These are digitally printed both sides on super soft velvet with sumptuous duck feather inners. Perfect for cosy sofa time.
Our brief but brilliant week long summer is over for the year here in but I’m looking forward to autumn’s moody skies, big jumpers and log fires. It’s probably my favourite season and can be a perfect time to visit.
Last light at Sango Bay (Sangomore) at Durness. This artwork came from a visit in late winter last year and it was so beautiful and quiet. Today I’ve been seeing articles about the so called North Coast 500 and the negative effect it has on local communities and the environment. It’s very similar to our experience here in Skye. I love tourists and I’m proud, as I was when I lived in Edinburgh, to have the privilege of living a place that people from all over the world want to experience. Everyone has the right to travel but it’s such a shame that some people treat the highlands with such little respect. Follow the golden rule
Our new gallery and gift shop in the middle of Portree has been open daily for about 6 weeks now and we’ve had so many lovely comments from visitors ♥️. Thanks to everyone who has popped in. We’re now well and truly into the season and my team at the studio in are working hard keeping the shop stocked up with all our products. Looking forward to another busy weekend!
So many amazing images from last nights display of the Northern Lights. I’m usually out there with my camera but I missed it all. Here’s my latest work “Arisaig Aurora” in case you’re in the mood for more!
We're on the second day of our big seconds s*ale. The first of two this year. Newsletter subscribers have had a days head start so as I'm writing there are only 2 sets of mugs left, a handful of porcelain hanging ornament sets but plenty of ceramic coaster sets (because we found an extra box 🤩). The s*ale will stay live until there is nothing left but be quick!

A lovely article on my business from the P&J ❤️
Isle of Skye designer to move into Portree's old post office building Local artist and designer Cath Waters is opening a gallery and giftshop in Portree after 'six years of waiting'.
Big news x2! We’re now a 100% Isle of Skye business 🙌. I’ve been living in Skye now for almost 6 years. My studio and retail space is here but my main workshop stayed in Grangemouth, near where I used to live. So the first big news is that over the last month we’ve moved our production workshop up to Dunvegan on Skye, using some of my retail space there plus the unit next door. The Dunvegan gallery will still be open, just a bit smaller. We’re just about ready to start shipping orders again and I’d like to thank everyone for your patience while we get up and running again.
The second big news is that in the next month or so we’ll be opening a new shop right in the centre of Portree. I’ve waited years for something to come up and had pretty much given up so it’s really exciting! So, that’s my excuse for being absent from social media and being slow in responding to people. Normal service will be resumed shortly.
Excitement aside, moving my workshop has meant letting go of a fantastic team of capable staff which has been really difficult. My new Skye team have big shoes to fill but I know we’ll be amazing. And how’s that for a view from your workbench 🌊 🧡
I'd like to introduce you to the lovely Anna Ohar. Anna works for me in my workshop making my products and posting out your parcels. She's an extremely talented abstract artist who makes enchanting original wall art as well as all sorts of goodies like these beautiful painted baubles and pins. You can find out more about Anna on her page Anna Ohar or visit her in Linlithgow Advent Fayre on 25th November.
Our Dunvegan gallery and gift shop in Skye will be closed for the day tomorrow, Fri 17th Nov, due to rather annoying electrical works. We'll be back open at 11am on Saturday!

Lot's of lampshade making going on at the moment here at our workshop in Skye. Have you seen our eco-conscious Scottish landscape lampshades? 🌿✨ Each one is handmade in Skye using printed satin fabric which has been spun from plastic bottles, keeping them out of landfill and turning single use plastic into beautiful homeware. Our bases are handmade in Scotland by our friends Darach from upcycled whisky barrels.
Delicate, hand printed, Scottish landscape porcelain hanging ornaments. 🎄✨ Each one features one of my Scottish Landscape artworks with the location printed on the back. Lots to collect and great for adding a touch of Scotland to your festive decor. Pop them in a card for a perfect Scottish Christmas gift.

Our Story
Cath Waters is a Scottish landscape digital collage artist living and working on the Isle of Skye. Digital collage can mean any form of collage assembled or created using a computer. Cath's process starts off on location where she takes digital photographs of the landscape. Back in the studio Cath uses a computer to blend the landscape photography with sections of additional photographs to add texture, colour and depth. These "textures" can be photographs of painting or mixed media or photographs and scans of surfaces such as rocks, peeling paint, scratched metal, rust, fabric, old paper....all sorts of unusual things. Each finished piece might have between 10 and 20 layers of collage in addition to the original landscape photograph.
Cath's work can be purchased as affordable prints, large Giclee prints, greetings cards, mugs, stationery and gifts for sale on-line via www.cathwaters.scot or visit her studio on the Isle of Skye. You can also find Cath’s work in many gift shops and galleries in Scotland.
