We have dived right into Autumn!๐๐
This is always a lovely time of year as it teaches the children all about change๐ณ๐.
The children have loved watching as the leaves fall from the trees and change colour. They have enjoyed using these natural materials within their play.

What a lovely Summer term it has been!
The sunny days finally arrived and we could enjoy our fun in the sun activities โ๏ธ.
We had picnics in the garden, walks in the forest to release our butterflies and a very exciting water day! ๐ฆ๐ซ๐ฆ
We ended the term with a very emotional graduation ceremony, saying goodbye to our nursery leavers. We wish them the best of luck and lots of fun in their next adventures ๐.
Now it is time for us all to recharge our batteries ready for a new and exciting term ahead!
We welcomed The Bubble Man to our nursery on Tuesday ๐ซง
He showed us lots of different tricks involving bubbles and the children even got to go inside a gigantic bubble!
We would like to say a big thank you!
On Thursday we hosted our first Fatherโs Day stay and play. It was a huge success and we had a great response from our lovely Dads!
The children loved showing their Dads the lovely things they do in nursery.
We hope you all had a lovely Fatherโs Day!
What a fantastic experience our children had when we had a special visit from our local fire crew!
They talked to the children about their job and how they keep us safe. They showed us around the fire truck and we even got to spray the hose!
A big thank you to the firemen who came to visit us.
Over the last few weeks we have been learning all about bugs and minibeasts ๐ท๏ธ๐๐
This week we have had Guy from bugsnstuff.com bring lots of exciting mega beasts to show us! It was amazing, we learnt lots of interesting facts and the children were so brave!
A big thank you to Guy for introducing us to all of those fabulous creatures.
Last week we started learning all about Space and it has really taken off! ๐
The children built their very own rocket ship and with the help of their parents they chose a name. The name that was chosen was โSparkle Rockstar.โ
Our nursery has ran with this lovely theme and the children are loving finding out lots of interesting things! ๐๐ช
The children worked hard to make lovely bird feeder pizzas using oats, seeds and fruits as they we were learning about looking after animals during Winter time. ๐ฆโโฌ
They made choices of where to leave the bird feeders in the woods. We observed the birds up in the trees and down on the ground looking for food and this helped with their decisions.
We also found the Gruffalos Den! The children couldnโt wait to look for sticks to help finish the roof. We hope the Gruffalo was pleased with our work!
Itโs beginning to look a lot like Christmas ๐
๐ป๐
The children have been very creative and worked together to create some wonderful Christmas decorations. We have made a beautiful Christmas tree out of boxes and decorated it, made magical reindeer dust and the elves have been super busy writing the good lists!
A very busy week indeed! โญ๏ธ
What a perfect day we had to go and choose our nursery Christmas tree, it felt very festive! ๐
The children chose the biggest Christmas tree and a beautiful garland for the nursery door. They helped to carry it back to nursery and decorate it with all of the beautiful decorations!
A big thank you to Gary at Coxhoe Garden Centre Parkhill for being very generous and helping us with this wonderful tree! Thank you for your support throughout the year.
Christmas has definitely arrived at Shining Stars! ๐๐

Celebrating Remembrance Day at Shining Stars Nursery.
We wanted to share some of the lovely activities we did around Remebrance Day. We talked to the children about how the poppies help us to remember the brave soldiers who keep us safe.
This type of learning is a very important part of our Personal,Social and Emotional Development and our British Values curriculum. It helps the children to have a better knowledge and understanding of the world and important events.
What a fun day we had yesterday at East Grange - PYO Pumpkins & Christmas Trees! ๐
The children enjoyed exploring the pumpkin patch searching for different pumpkins to take back to nursery. The children found big pumpkins, small pumpkins but their favourite of all was the goosebumps pumpkin!
It was a beautiful Autumn day and we enjoyed being out in the fresh air๐๐ณ.
Thank you very much to East Grange Farm for accommodating us, we had a brilliant morning!
We are following on with our Autumn activities in nursery.๐๐
The children have enjoyed the story โAfter the Stormโ by Nick Butterworth. This inspired them to build their own tree house for our woodland animals. They used the small world resources to be creative and imaginative. What a wonderful tree house they made! ๐ณ

As part of Art week this week the children have been exploring all types of art techniques and materials.
They have enjoyed using the mod rock to create sculptures, made a lovely mural using glue and lots of loose parts and they explored painting on different textures. The children also used their senses to make some lavender playdough.
We have lots of young artists in the making! ๐จ๐๏ธ
Please remember this can be a tricky time for our little ones who are moving on to primary school.
Here are some little things to think about ๐ญ
