Getting prints ready for Mini Print show 3 Oct - 3 Dec 2023. Still on my Adam and Eve theme: In the Garden, Linocut. Set myself the challenge of working on a very small scale 10x10cm and getting it done on time to apply, so it’s lovely to be selected. Now looking forward to seeing the other printmakers work
Life Drawing is always challenging but great for concentration and focus, which can be a struggle at times. Thanks to my fab model Omi ❤️❤️❤️
That’s funny, but also accurate 🥺
Whelp, I've got the crippling self doubt already, don't need that. 😆

My reward for standing still on my walk a few days ago.
I will be a guest tutor for Jenny Purrett] in the fabulous studio at near Stocksfield on 28 & 29 October. I’m really looking forward to delivering these workshops which explore using life drawing to create narrative work. Places are limited so please book asap . More exploring ink from yesterday’s workshop with . Fab experience, will definitely go again. As an artist and teacher you spend so much time nurturing and encouraging others, it’s important to be on the other side occasionally.
Drawing with lovely flowing ink and Chinese brushes, enjoying the materials and process. I spent a wonderful day on Saturday being the student rather than the teacher for a change at . I went there feeling very nervous as I haven’t done any drawing in ages, this has been a very difficult year and my confidence was at an all time low.
But I’m so glad I went and so grateful to Jenny for helping me to forget myself and remember how much I love drawing for it’s own sake.
Thanks also to the other participants, I really enjoyed working alongside them, encouraging and inspiring each other. Thank you Jenny!
Life Drawing today at Bobiks, Punch Bowl, Jesmond, places available just turn up 2-4pm. Please remember to allow travel time as it’s the Great North Run today.
I love teaching life drawing almost as much as doing it. It’s a great discipline, essential drawing practice and so much more. It’s always challenging- if you’re finding it easy you’re probably not pushing yourself hard enough. But it’s unlike any other kind of observational drawing. When I was a student at the Royal Academy we had to do life drawing every day for the first term. It drove some people crazy but I loved it! Imagine having that opportunity again?
Print collage experiments: The Fall. I’m enjoying playing with this theme of duality: heaven and earth, light and dark, male and female…….
The Fall. Print collage experiments continue.

In the Garden, print collage. I’m working on ideas for wood engraving, still obsessed with my Adam and Eve theme
Behind the Olive Stone, Tantobie. Popped into with my pals Polly and Sue, surprised to see (yes, her off of the telly)! Such a lovely, friendly person and even more stunning in person. Would love to know where she got that fab green dress!
On the easel: WIP. Day 7 of testing positive for covid.
Ouseburn Valley, Under the Bridges. Another drawing from one of my favourite places. I always notice how dramatic it looks framed by the immense bridges, almost surreal. Looking forward to some new sketch book walking soon.
Ouseburn Valley: Towards the Ship. I love this part of Newcastle, I think it’s so atmospheric. I love the mix of gritty, industrial elements alongside nature left to itself. I miss my days in Lime St studios, meeting friends for lunch at the Ship, the Cumberland or the Cluny (there are so many more great venues there now as well) Sending out a Hi to my former studio neighbour love seeing your posts!
Happy Winter Solstice! Bare branches have their own beauty and winter has it’s highlights - I have to remind myself of this as I am a summer baby light-craver -branches
Great to be exhibiting alongside some fabulous artists in this show! It’s on till end of January.
Work in progress: still rough but not sure if worth pursuing. I guess I have to ask myself am I still enjoying working on it……
So delighted to be participating in Winter Group Show! I know this lovely gallery has a great reputation and the Winter Show is really popular so it’s great to be selected. I’m also looking forward to seeing other artists work, maybe even bump into some old friends. The exhibition runs from 1 December 2021 to 29 January 2022
Almost finished…..
So glad I managed to miraculously get a ticket to see the Paula Rego exhibition! An amazing opportunity to see such a massive body of work all in one place, I would have been gutted to miss it. For me she is the most inspiring, fearless and unique artist ever. I especially love the more recent work, which is also inspiring to see someone of her stature continuing to grow and refuse to compromise or sell-out.
