What is hybrid.yoga - yoga with a twist! I've sifted out the traditional yoga moves that really have a function and combined these with controlled movements that support joints whilst encouraging full range of motion and with strength and mobility exercises whilst striving for symmetry....here's a little snippet to give you an idea π
Yoga is great for strength, flexibility and balance but can it slow the physical effects of ageing?
The NHS recognise that frailty is reduced through yoga.
After clinical studies were reviewed, walking speed, balance, hand grip strength, lower extremity strength and endurance all improved as a result of yoga.
There are many contributing factors to frailty, yoga impacts multiple areas of health and can be effective in preventing a syndrome like frailty.
A day of Yoga and foraging.....

Smiling, laughter and being able to express happy emotions is so IMPORTANT FOR HEALTH, MENTAL ATTITUDE and THE DAMAGING EFFECTS OF STRESS. Sometimes life can be very tricky and we could do with a hand to pull us out of a darker place. My job isn't to know about people's personal lives or change anyone's feelings but I would love to think that YOU LEAVE MY CLASSES FEELING A LITTLE LIGHTER, HOPEFUL, AND HEALTHIER π

I know how much you all love the magic words "make yourselves comfortable for relaxation"π here you can see very clearly what happens when you truly switch off and relax. This is from a yoga student Monday evening. The benefits of proper relaxation are immense βΊοΈ The heart rate slowed right down for those 10 minutes!

The first ray is the inside segment of the foot that ends at the big toe (consisting of the first cuneiform bone and first metatarsal)
This functional unit of bones and tissues is an important part of what makes the ARCH a strong and stable structure
The first ray is an integral part of the medial longitudinal arch, and its function during walking, running, balance/stability and many human movements is key
π The first ray functions as a pillar for the arch
- Integrity and strength of the first ray is important for PROPULSION when pushing off while walking. It acts as the primary lever which transfers a lot of load and energy/force through the ground
- Running, jumping, and athletic movements also require a strong and functional first ray to transmit force and keep the arch intact
The arch, balance, and stability:
- When standing on one foot, the integrity of your arch depends on good first ray strength. The musculature that connects into the first ray turns this structure into a strong ground stabilizer
- It allows you to keep your foot planted and βrootedβ to the ground when stability/balance is required. It creates rigidity and control and maintains your arch
Pay attention to inside part of your foot when you walk, stand, balance etc. Developing strength through the first ray will improve function and performance
