It was Mrs H who found this great desk and it’s her suggestion it could be used as dressing table.
Early 20th century solid oak desk presented in a warm, golden tone. The tambour top rolls perfectly, ideal for a home office.
Available on our usual platforms for sale later today and hopefully a quick sale before Mrs H persuades me to keep it!
A very special offer from the Vinterior website.

Working on my own house today and removed some vintage wall insulation……..otherwise known as The Sunday Dispatch from Dec 1960!
A little insight into how we spend some of our time.
This great twin clerks desk was a genuine barn find that caught our eye.
Currently in the workshop and being brought back to life. So far we have repaired a broken leg, removed the very badly damaged artificial leather tops and halfway through stripping the finish and yes, doing the pigeon holes was tiresome!
Two of the glass panels are having broken panes replaced and Interestingly they are not leaded, the metal frames are copper.
All being well the restored piece should be completed in a couple of weeks time.
Freshly waxed and ready for sale.
Circa 1800 mahogany chest of drawers with superb fluted corners. Fantastic colour and after over 200 years it carries a character that only time can produce.
Coming to our platforms later today
We took inspiration from a Regency original to recreate a faux bamboo effect.
2 over 3 chest of drawers presented in a traditional buff colour embellished with charcoal line detail.
It’s been 4 years since we first used this design inspired by antique Portuguese furniture and here’s our latest piece.
Still as popular as ever and quite enjoyable to do.
This weeks job is stripping and repolishing a quantity of Ercol furniture.
The amendment to the safety sticker raised a smile with us
Willoughby keeping a look out for Mrs H
Outstanding in its own field 😂
Team photo of our next 4 items
A bittersweet moment, our first fire of the autumn season. Always lovely but a sign of the onset of colder days!
We have tried something a little different with the re-working of this chest of drawers, a little more contemporary perhaps?
Walnut with a bleached colour finish of satin lacquer and a contrasting ivory plinth. A touch different to what we normally do. Interested to see how it’s received.
A completed restoration order delivered back to its owner today.
Robert Heritage for Archie Shine rosewood dining table, stripped and relacquered to remedy a DIY attempt at white ring removal.
A well meaning I’m sure try to repair the table by its owner but the lesson learned is don’t always follow what the internet experts suggest……..leave it to real life experts. No lasting damage done and restored to its former beauty.
Straight away I admit this item is not for all tastes but it really stood out to me.
Visited an antique shop today, the shop being named after said taxidermy. He was a Victorian monkey who was the companion of a gentleman ancestor of the shops owner. Apparently Jacko lived a life that did include a taste for ci**rs!
Unfortunately he was and never will be for sale but an interesting artefact and history
❌sold❌ Thought we would try something a little different with this Edwardian piece.
It came to us in quite a worn condition. Being of solid oak construction throughout we decided to update it with a bleached finish. The final coats being of flat matt lacquer.
Very pleased with the result which gives a piece of furniture 122 years old (dated inside as 9-12-02) a new lease of life.
Had a great day out today at the invitation of to the Boldmere Golf Club pro-am.
Sorry to say there was no claiming the hole in one prize but I did manage to make a birdie 2……and for you golf nuts that was with a shot so a 2 nett 1. Also managed to win a nearest the pin so came away with a bottle of whiskey.
Thanks to all for organising and the invite
What with holidays and so much work that needed completing onsite it seems an age since we posted our last chest of drawers.
Completed today is this 19th century, bow fronted, 2 over 3 chest in a traditional buff colour and banding detail.
Posing dog not included!
Platforms appearance later today.
Last day of holiday so got some painting in
Another 6 mini landscapes completed, 2 from our trip to Rhodes with the other four being attempts at copying professional artists……so apologies if you see a rip off of your work!
Just 86 more to go for my challenge!!!!!
My art tutor has suggested (which I have taken as a challenge) to paint 100 postcard-ish size landscapes in 100 days.
I did negotiate up to 150 days, about Christmas time. Today I have sat and completed my first seven.
Enjoyable to do and hopefully achievable
Some of these are from my own images others being tributes to professional artists, apologies if you spot a poor imitation of your work
Got to the end of the job.
A mixture of cleaning/reviving, repolishing and lacquering the floor.
Great project to work on.
The tracer of my fall down of customers staircase this morning.
Fortunately just a grazed elbow, dented pride but nothing a good cup of tea couldn’t sort out,
All aboard
Nice evening walk with Mrs H and Willoughby
