A pop of colour in the HPC Classics / JAGtechnic workshop this Friday.

We have had an interesting variety of jobs in this week alongside our usual selection of modern Jaguars including a fabulous Mclaren 650s which needed some tinkering from Lee for its yearly MOT test.

Joe has been working on the lovely primrose yellow Jaguar E type in the background which needs a new clutch and some typical classic car remedial work.

Andy has worked his usual magic on the Ferrari 488 which is looking fantastic as I'm sure you will agree.

Aidan had his hands full last week replacing the EGR cooler on this Jaguar E-Pace. As you can see from the photos this unit was definitely due replacement and was flagging up an engine light. The unit was replaced with a genuine Jaguar part as per our standard practice and is back with the customer and running as it should.

This particular job entails a considerable strip down including lowering the front subframe to gain access, however our technicians are happy to undertake jobs of any size.

This R33 GTR Skyline has come to us for an inspection after a recent purchase by one of our customers. Originally bringing his Jaguar to us for maintenance & servicing, however more recently he has moved onto some particularly spicy Japanese performance cars and we are very happy to continue providing our high level of service in keeping his vehicles in fine fettle.

One of the jobs we have had in this week is on this lovely Jaguar XF V8, after some diagnosis we have found it is suffering from exhaust catalyst efficiency issues resulting in an intermittent check engine light appearing on the dashboard.

We are starting to see this cropping up as a more common issue, especially on the V8 powered cars.

Unfortunately Jaguar have stopped production of the genuine downpipes, however we have managed to source an alternative option using 200 cell sports catalyst which also offers a performance upgrade.

We are actively striving to find alternatives where genuine parts are becoming difficult to source in order to keep these vehicles on the road for many years.

An unfortunate side effect of our salted roads is an accelerated rate of corrosion appearing on the underside of the vehicles we see coming into the workshop.

This particular XKR came to us after to failing its MOT test due to front subframe corrosion. Lee got straight to work removing the old failed frame and replacing it with a genuine Jaguar replacement part. We had the car back out for a retest and geometry within the day and back with the customer ready for many more years of enjoyment.

Another big job we are working on this week. This Jaguar F-pace unfortunately suffered an unexpected engine failure and upon diagnosis we have found the engine to be uneconomical to repair.

We always recommend preventative maintenance over major repairs and from what we have found these engines are very sensitive to maintenance schedules.

We would advise yearly intermediate oil services irrespective of mileage on top of the service schedule set out by Jaguar to ensure your engine is kept running as designed for as long as possible.

However should the worst happen we are able to supply and fit genuine Jaguar new & reconditioned engine units at an affordable rate for our customers.

Lee is currently midway through diagnosing a customer's Jaguar F-pace with a 2.0 Ingenium engine. It arrived with us as a non runner and it is very clear to see where the issue lies after some initial strip down.

We are seeing an alarming number of faults with these powerplants and often the failure points towards insufficient lubrication, highly likely due to the long service intervals Jaguar set.

We highly recommend our customers schedule in an interim oil service with us once a year, irrespective of mileage, to help prevent premature failure due to oil contamination.

A slightly 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 post today. We are finding increasing numbers of differential issues on 2010 — 2019 Jaguar XJ's with the main culprit being leaking shaft seals causing damage due to low oil level.

This is something we look out for when we get customer vehicles on the ramp, and if caught early these seals can be replaced with minimal downtime. In the event of differential failure however we can supply and fit replacement Jaguar remanufactured items as is the case on this vehicle.

An issue we are seeing more and more frequently is related to the emissions system on diesel vehicles. Either due to poor fuel quality, uncorrected sensor faults or regular short local trips.

Your vehicle equipped with a DPF which is a special filter designed to capture the larger particulates and soot from the engines exhaust gasses. Once driven in a certain manner the DPF should regenerate & clear, however it is becoming more common to see issues with this feature resulting in a lack of performance as well as the potential for needing costly repairs in the future.

An excellent method to ensure the DPF is kept in the best condition possible is by performing a chemical clean on it when it's getting partially full. We offer this service as a way of keeping costs down for our customers by prolonging the life of the expensive DPF.
