Throughout October we're celebrating amazing children of foster carers and everything they do to support the children and young people joining their homes. . ✨
William is nine and his family have been fostering for three years. During that time William has helped support many children who have joined the family, including his current two foster sisters aged eight and fourteen.
William says one of his favourite fostering memories is going on a family camping holiday to Anglesey in Wales with his foster sisters. They all played together on the beach, burying each other in sand and he made them a mermaid sculpture! 🏖
William’s mum Genevieve said: “He has taken it all in his stride and I am so proud of how he supports me, his dad and all the children and young people we care for.” 💬

🎉 We're pleased to announce that our fostering film, Any of Us, has won 'Best Collaboration' and 'Best Creative Comms' at the comms2point0 , celebrating excellence in public sector communications 🎉
follows the journey of three people who apply to be foster carers. They come from different walks of life with varying life skills and experiences to bring to the table. The short film shows how people who consider themselves ordinary, can become foster carers, and do extraordinary things which directly change the lives of the children in their care. It's inspiring to watch, and to acknowledge and appreciate that this is what our East Sussex Fostering carers take in their stride every day!
There is a national need for more foster carers, and certainly in , we need more new foster carers now.
❔ If you've ever considered fostering, or you're thinking about 'maybe one day', please get in touch for an initial chat to find out more. Why not join one of our online information sessions, or send us your details via our web form (link in comments)
🤝 Many thanks to John at CAN Digital who drove to County Hall in Lewes to present the award and to Rachel who both coordinated over 80 councils to work together and achieve this amazing production. As always, thank you to our wonderful ESCC foster carers who already make the difference 'Any of Us' can.
When you spend most of your life 'in care' and despite life's challenges, you become the most impressive and generous young person, thinking of others and advocating for young people as part of East Sussex County Council's CICC (Children in Care Council).
Your strength, understanding and positivity is inspiring for other young people whether they are care-experienced or not, and also for those who might be considering becoming a foster carer with East Sussex Fostering. Thank you 🙂
