First show ✅
Thank you so much to the wonderful opening night audience! We can’t wait to see more of you in Lime Studio 10-11pm soon!
OUR FABULOUS CAST MEMBER, JEMIMA, WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF!
Jemima doesn’t study history. She didn’t even do history at GCSE. But she does just darn love good comedy, clearly showing what a hilarious show this must be. She is a third year law student, and is hoping to use her cold hard lawyery skills to protect from any copyright infringement.
Quote from Jemima:
“Being part of the Herstories has been an all round delightful experience. I am so proud of what we have created and feel so lucky to have been able to work with such a talented cast and crew. The show still has me in stitches, and I really hope it will for audiences too.”
OUR LOVELY CAST MEMBER, KITTY, WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF!
Kitty Ford is loud and le***an at heart. She also happens to be doing (a strong word for it) her undergrad in history. Any excuse therefore to shout about women and the past sounded a pretty swell opportunity. She is, as they say, well pumped to be bringing ‘Herstories' to the fringe with such a legendary cast and crew.
QUOTE:
Being a part of this show has just been an utter delight. I think it will take many months for my ribs to recover from just how much laughter spending the time with the cast has induced.
I think the Pointer Sisters put it best; “I’m So Excited” to share Horrible Herstories with Edinburgh.
OUR WONDERFUL CAST MEMBER, BELLA, WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF!
Bella is thrilled to be playing yet another series of delusional pensioners in Horrible Herstories, after a successful run as every-token-old-bloke this last season in Cambridge. She could not be more excited to venture this time around into the realm of aquatic mammals, and hopes to take a one-woman show about a bodybuilder Porpoise named Humphrey on tour in the Baltics next spring.
For now she is looking forward to getting her chops ready here at the Fringe, and feels extremely lucky to be working with such a talented bunch on this show.
INTRODUCING ONE HALF OF THE CREATIVE VISIONARIES BEHIND THE SHOW - LIBBY!
Libby ‘ginger’ Thornton has ginger hair and has quite frankly made it her only personality trait. Aside from that, she enjoys naming plants, eating petit flous, and shouting at passers by on the Edinburgh Mile. Luckily for her she will be exercising those shouting muscles at Fringe where Libby cannot WAIT to show you all the hilarious Horrible Herstories.
Quote from Libby:
“Having done over 30 shows in Cambridge it is easy for many of them to merge into one amorphous blob, however I will never forget the joyous process that has been creating Horrible Herstories. Every single cast member has such vibrancy and raw talent meaning when combined (whilst it is very loud) it is truly something special.”
INTRODUCING ONE HALF OF THE CREATIVE VISIONARIES BEHIND THE SHOW - IZZIE!
Izzie is so excited to be FINALLY be birthing this brainchild, which has been gestating since 2019. Izzie loves both comedy AND medieval history, and can’t wait to use the show as a platform for her campaign to bring back greased goose grabbing. Watch out Paris 2024!! She especially can’t wait to play a sexy Victorian Man, as this should come very naturally to her.
Quote: ‘I’ve never been as proud of any show I’ve done as I am of Horrible Herstories - when me and Libby first came up with the idea, we never thought we’d be able to bring it to life in such amazing fashion with this incredibly hilarious and wonderful cast. Let’s get on that stage and make some herstory babaaaayyy!!!!’
THE FINAL MEMBER OF OUR PROD TEAM WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF!
Hugh is a first year English student. He is excited for the wonderful opportunity to work at Fringe, and though not onstage is responsible for the show’s extremely tasteful lighting and sound design. His favourite musical is Little Shop of Horrors.
Introducing our first wonderful writer/performer, Bella!
OUR WONDERFUL PRODUCER ISLA WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HERSELF!
Isla Carr is the designated badger-er of the show, otherwise known as the producer. Her passion for spreadsheets and lists is what drives her, but her further hobbies include eating unhealthy amounts of peanut butter and, of course, History! It will be Isla’s first time in Edinburgh, and she can’t wait to spend nearly a month on the Mile, accosting strangers with our very snazzy flyers.
Quote from Isla:
“I am so excited though. I have loved being part of this process and watching the show take shape. Horrible Herstories is unbearably funny, and that is down to its amazing cast! It’s been a joy working with them so far and I can’t think of any group to better take on the Fringe with!”
OUR WONDERFUL DIRECTOR JOSH WOULD LOVE TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF!
Josh BG is your typical history student- he loves Henry’s 1 though 8 although Henry VI is a bit of a misfire… he also knows how to play the cello and quite fancies being the next Doctor Who.
Some may question why a straight white guy is directing a show about women in history but he would like to clarify that he was asked to direct and is not, as may be expected, stealing the limelight from women. He would like to really really reinforce that and politely ask that he is not butchered by the press.

Horrible Herstories Oi! You! Think you know your history? Well you’ve got it all wrong, buster! Let us show you how things really were – Churchill? Abe Lincoln? Guy Fawkes? Boring! Oi! You! Think you know your history? Well you’ve got it all wrong, buster! Let us show you how things REALLY were - Churchill? Abe Lincoln? Guy Fawkes? BORING! Who you really want to know about is Janice, the village witch of Bognor Regis. Or Petunia, the true author of Bible? Or perhaps if Queen Liz the first was really short for Lizard? For the answers to all this and more, come to Horrible Herstories, where the women of history set the record straight!
Horrible Herstories is a comedic re-imagining of the women of history - the historical figures we know and love as well as the women that time forgot. This sketch show will utilise many different mediums of comedy (such as song, improv alongside classic sketch) to make a fast-paced, exciting and hilarious show. It won’t just be a re-imagining of historical female figures - yawn! We will ask the ‘what if’ questions - how would the world look if it was John of Arc rather than Joan, or if it was Queen Henritta the VIII instead of Henry? Was Dolly Parton’s 9-5 actually the inspiration for the communist manifesto?
