It’s a pleasure to announce well-deserved promotions within our practice, celebrating the continued dedication and talent that drive us forward.
Mark Dawson is becoming Director of Sustainable Design - With an MSc in Advanced Sustainable Design from the University of Edinburgh and a Certified Passivhaus Designer, Mark has already been leading Reiach and Hall’s sustainability policy and advising on sustainable practices across all projects. A key member of our team, he’s been integral to many of our award winning and notable projects, including the RIBA Stirling-nominated Falkirk Campus for Forth Valley College and the award-winning Stobhill Hospital, which received the Prime Minister’s Award for Better Public Building.
At the Associate Director level, we are delighted to promote David Anderson, Libby Heathcote, Laura Kinnaird, Claire Logan, Nick Richardson, and Lee Steedman, all of whom bring expertise, commitment, and forward-thinking leadership to their roles.
David Stirling takes on the role of Senior Associate, and we’re pleased to promote Jonathan Millard, Jamie Mitchell, John Stewart, and Lewis Thomson to Associate.
These promotions reflect each person’s hard work over the years and recognise the emerging leadership abilities of each member of the group.
With this strengthening of our team we are confident the practice is in safe hands to continue delivering beautiful, sustainable and useful buildings for our clients.
We’re thrilled to celebrate these milestones and look forward to what’s next.

Reiach and Hall Architects at the British School at Rome 2024
We’re delighted that one of our team, Lee Steedman , will be heading to Rome next week to take part in the British School at Rome’s “Reading Rome” summer school. Running from 16-21 September 2024, this unique course is led by award-winning architects Stephen Witherford and William Mann, and explores the relationship between architecture and the city through hands-on site visits and studio work.
Following in the footsteps of David Stirling, who attended last year, Lee will have the chance to engage with Rome’s rich architectural history and modern urban landscape. The week will also include a lecture by Witherford and Mann at the Casa dell’Architettura, where they’ll discuss architectural practice and the city in their talk “The Cellular City.”
We look forward to seeing what ideas and inspiration Lee will bring back from this incredible opportunity.

Refurbishment of 10 George Street, Edinburgh - an original Reiach and Hall Building completed in the late 1980's.

Reiach and Hall Architects are delighted to announce that the has won a 2024 RIBA National Award! 🏆
The RIBA has awarded 26 National Awards for 2024, highlighting the extraordinary breadth and brilliance of UK architecture. This year’s winners were selected from the 111 RIBA regional winners. RIBA president Muyiwa Oki commented:
‘The sheer breadth of work is quite astounding, with large infrastructure schemes sitting alongside high-quality, detailed smaller projects. This is a testament to the standard of architecture in the UK right now, as we maintain a sense of ambition and consider how design must evolve to meet future needs.’

Taking a look back at our Dundee Civic Offices Project completed in 2011:
Reiach and Hall won the competition to design new offices for the City of Dundee Council. The new offices, located on the site of the former DC Thompson print works, retain, re-use and add to the existing council building.
The original double-height printing press hall, which was at the heart of Dundee’s journalism industry, becomes the front door to the city’s civic offices and offers a collective and democratic space to the city. The arcade connects at ground level via a top-lit ‘’one-stop-shop’’ foyer of reception and information through to the new extension of the Overgate Centre Shopping Mall.
The new building is articulated to the west by three towers; to the northeast by the arcaded existing stone façade and by a dramatic glazed new building behind. The new building becomes bound into the streets, connections and functions of the city.
