Gaslighting is a manipulative tactic used in the workplace to undermine your confidence and perception of reality. This can involve denying, altering, or twisting facts to make you doubt your version of events, causing emotional distress and long-term mental health effects.
To fight back, keep contemporaneous notes. These notes serve as crucial evidence in a Tribunal and help you stay clear and confident during stressful times. Recording events clearly can counter the effects of gaslighting, keeping you grounded in your reality.

Starting October 1st, 2024, the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 and its statutory Code of Practice will come into force.
Key features of the act:
- Employers must pass on tips in full to workers.
- Employers cannot discriminate against anyone when sharing tips.
- Tips must be allocated fairly and transparently.
- Businesses where tips are left frequently must have a tipping policy in place.
- Tips must be distributed within one month of the end of the month they were received.
