📹All equipment is double-checked before the shoot to ensure that all lights, sound, cameras, lenses, batteries, stabilisers, and stands are operational and safe. We then scout the shoot location indoors and out to understand the light conditions when we arrive.

Because of the inconsistency of light and wind sound outside, the majority of the interviews are shot indoors where we set up two cameras. Having these two cameras set up aids us in making the highest quality edits during the editing stages.🎬

🔆Depending on the situation, we use two or three lights, and always have two sound sources. We then do a final composition check before bringing the talent/subject in to make sure there's nothing in the frame that isn't relevant.

We always plan to shoot B-roll to tell the story in greater depth. And to provide that cinematic aesthetic, B roll can be shot in slow motion. We prefer to take well-composed images and use our stabiliser to move or follow subjects. We also enjoy shooting B-roll from the air with our drones to get those aerial overshot.✈️

Nourish Scotland campaigns for a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable food system in Scotland, focusing on topics like the environment, public health, and inequality, which is why we're delighted to have helped them tell their story!🌍

During , they hosted a week long event called “Recipes for resilience” and we were asked to film the jam packed schedule.

The event hosted global partners such as WWF, Mossgiel Organic Farm, Innovative Green Development Forum, and The Global Alliance For The Future Of Food and held discussion on a wide range of topics concerning the global food system. 🥙🍜

Gulp was tasked with filming all of the partners, as well as creating a short documentary, highlight video, and photography package.📽️

Over the last three years, we've worked hard to build a mission-driven, creative cross-functional production team.

Over the last 6 years, our client ENOUGH have developed a sustainable protein solution made by naturally fermenting fungi. 🍄

Healthy, sustainable, and tasty, they are on a mission to feed the next billion people.

Without ever harming an animal 🐔

So when they asked us to produce an animated video, suitable for the XPRIZE, we revelled at the opportunity.

The video was produced by our team in a total of 2 days 🎥😲

Our purpose. 🌍🎥

The pandemic left us with a fire in our belly, and opened our eyes to the amazing work that businesses are doing globally to create a more sustainable and regenerative food system, including tackling key issues such as food poverty, food waste, and climate challenges.

Our vision has crystallised over the past few years. We now have clarity that our purpose is to share the stories of these brave innovators, using story-led video and content to accelerate their impact on the world, and play our part in giving humanity a fighting chance to reverse the damage we have caused on our planet and its inhabitants.

So in 2021, with just our cameras and a dash of creativity, we set out to find these innovators.

Through our lens, we are doing just that, telling the stories of Food & Drink innovators that are shaping our future.

From alternative protein start-ups to vertical farming.

From beer with a purpose to coffee that cares.

From community led education programmes to plastic free supermarkets.

It was time for a rebrand.

We felt that Medialiciously no longer represented our mission or our work. So we decided to make a change.

Storytelling and video production for the Food & Drink innovators globally that are creating a more sustainable and regenerative food system, including tackling key issues such as food poverty, food waste, and climate challenges.

When the odds are stacked against you and fear is kicking in. You have to pause for a moment and ask yourself if it's worth it. But your vision of a better future and relentless passion and drive compel you to continue.

Introducing Steampunk Coffee Roasters: A Documentary.

Based in the beautiful Scottish seaside town of North Berwick, Steampunk are known for their roasting of fully traceable and ethically sourced single origin coffees.

Beloved locally and renowned widely for their community impact, it was a joy and a privilege to follow Catherine and the Steampunk team around their roastery and shop, learning more about the company's history and the values that underpin all of their behaviours as a eco-conscious business.

Now that some of the hospitality restrictions are being lifted, you may be looking to find fresh ways to entice your guests back to your restaurant or cafe. The Medialiciously team are here to help with some perfect plating tips:

This is the simplest, most important tip regarding plating – professional prop stylists will almost never use a dinner plate. Nine times out of ten (unless it’s a rib-eye steak) we choose salad plates.

There are two reasons for this.

Number one, a smaller plate both simplifies a mass of complicated ingredients, such as pasta, and allows you to get a tighter frame of your food.

Secondly, because it is small, you can put less on the plate without too much negative space around the food, allowing it to look abundant.

Less plate is more shot. Let your salad plate be a dinner plate, and let your dinner plate be a platter. It’s all about what looks good to the camera.

Natural lighting is the easiest way to make sure photos come out looking appetising. ☀️🍩☀️🍩

When shooting images indoors, you can use sunlight or window lighting to help highlight the focus of the object. When you’re outdoors, always shoot in a shaded area for even light. Direct sunlight can create a lot of harsh shadows that will add a lot of distracting spottiness to your photos, making your yummy food not look as yummy on screen.

If you don’t have access to good, natural lighting, this is when a LED light and defusers come in handy. 💡
