Are you seeking a safe space to discuss cycling? Do you have unanswered questions about cycling? We have the perfect event for you.

Join us to chat about both the joys and challenges of being a woman in the cycling world, and gain knowledge (or share your expertise) on how to be a more confident cyclist. We're excited to introduce you to our Women on Wheels night—an event led by women, for women, non-binary and trans individuals.

Our team of experienced cyclists will guide you through the basics of becoming a more assured cyclist. We'll cover crucial topics such as fuelling, pre and post-ride nutrition, comfort while cycling, safety and navigation in unfamiliar areas, cycling during your period, and the basics of bike maintenance. We hope you will leave with a good basis of knowledge to become a safer, more confident cyclist.

This event is aimed, but not limited, to those beginning their cycling journey. The event will run as a workshop with 3 female Edinburgh Bicycle Coop members delivering short talks on their respective area of expertise. The event endeavours to be collaborative experience in which we welcome individuals to share extra tips and encourage any questions you may have. There will be a short break in the middle of the workshop with drinks and snacks provided.

Come join us over Easter weekend at the Giant Store, Stockbridge for a kids Easter special – Easter Egg hunt and Easter arts and crafts while the parents shop plenty of discount bikes in time for summer.

On Wednesday night we held our first women on wheels event with resounding success.

We had plenty of discussion and much was learnt between the groups. It was great to see so many women coming together and learning from each other.

Which colour do you like best?

For road cyclists, providing safety is only one of the features that a good helmet gives you. As road cycling is all about being efficient, the helmet you choose can greatly affect this as the more you spend, the more aerodynamic it will be and the faster you will be as a result. Aside from safety and efficiency, road helmets will also get lighter as you go up through the range (but still be at least as safe) and will get better ventilated to keep you cool on warm days or when you are pushing hard for that ‘personal best’.

MTB Clipless (SPD) are more comfortable to walk in when off the bike due to the sunken cleat. Most XC riders opt for a clipped approach due to the pedalling efficiency.

Opting for flat pedals makes it easier to ditch your bike if you do happen to have a spill on more technical terrain.

In our experience, the mountain bikers who clip in on technical downhills have some serious confidence and skill. Mountain bike flat pedals that come with good pins and a pair of specific mountain biking shoes can give excellent grip without you being attached to the bike.
